If you could get any of these skates for free, which one would you pick?

I'd go with the Nike Hi Ho II's. Comfortable boot and Rink Rat wheels are the pluses. The only drawbacks are no wear pads on the sides of forefoot area.

I'm basically set on Tours for me next skates (Beemers or one of the Max), unless something comes along and knocks my socks off. The D-Limiteds would be nice to try. I haven't worn a Mission line since they tossed the V (Si, V, etc.) and don't plan on trying the heliums either, but the D-Limiteds have kind've grown on me.

Having had both the Tours to use, as well as the Hi Ho's in the last year, my son found all of them the most comfortable skates he has ever worn right out of the box since he started hockey. He gave maybe a slight edge to the Tours for comfort, but they were all close. I like the wear guards on the front/sides of the Tours to help avoid wearing through the bootwall so fast. My son also gave a significant edge to the Hum'er chassis...he really prefers it to the regular HiLo's, but it's all in what works for you.

If you like a supple fit, then the Beemers are probably more to your taste, and for a little more stiffness, the Blue Max.

I haven't tried the tours, but have been looking at them for a few years now. I am anxious to see how the hummer chasis works out, the reviews have been good, I am not happy with my Hi-Hos, and dislike the look of the Heliums. The D line is hard to find in my area for anything top of the line, and it looks like I'll be paying top dollar for it either way.

I haven't seen any complaints about them falling apart since they were introduced in early 2004, so maybe people like the durability. The new chassis definitely sems to give the skater a tangible edge in performance, and since they went back to the old last, the boot is seriously comfortable. Some may prefer the Blue Max because it is a bit stiffer, but basically they fit the same. I know almost half of the top ten scorers in the XILH are on either Blue Max's or Beemers...so something must be right about them.

hehe - syven had a few skates on one of the websites i was looking at - but they didnt seem to be very cutting edge and they are hard to find in the first place - i just put them on there in case there was a hardcore syven fan that would get offended if i didnt put them on the list. :)

here is one of the sites - although i think those prices are really bloated

Hey give us a break - the prices are New Zealand dollars, and include sales tax.

Anyway, I went with the Beemers, though I'd prefer to try the Beemers, He950's and the CCM PF10's (why is only the PF8 in the poll?) to make a more accurate decision. If I had to choose between the top Mission, the top Tour or the second top CCM as in the poll without getting to try them on first, I'd go the Tour, but mainly because no-one else down here has them, whereas the Missions are everwhere, and the CCM is a model down. Not that I'd be in that situation though!

I'd take the d1c's. Had a pair at one point, but sent the back because of the cost. I tried TOURs once and they hurt my left foot only, although I recently tried a pair of new tours (don't remember the model) and they felt real good on my foot.

The Beemers are going to be heavier....if for no other reason than you have all 80 mm wheels, which will add more weight right away than the 80,80,72,72 set up.

That said..try them, any extra weight is more than offset by the gain from the extra grip and leverage. You can really appreciate the difference after wearing the Beemers or another model with the Hum'er chassis, and you switch back to a regular HiLo chassis.

For those who like a bit stiffer feel, the Blue Max may be more to your liking....it is just a bit stiffer than the Beemer it seems. Depends on what you like in a skate.

i have a pair of the pf8's and love them...great fit right out of the box. plus they were stocked with RR Hornets...i've only played 3 games on them so far, but they feel great...the only negative i see on these skates is i don't get why a high-end skate like this still has a plastic (not carbon) bottom...kinda cheap looking if you ask me...but oh well, i got 'em dirt cheap anyways...

I have the CCM Vector PF8's as well, and I have to say CCM finally got the inline thing right so my vote would go to the Vectors. My last pair of skates were Nike Quest 1's and although I changed the wheels and bearing almost as soon as I got them(ABEC 5 to ABEC 7,and the stock Red Star wheels to Dynasties) the boot on the Nikes was just awsome.Even after qutie a few years of use they still feel great. So either the Vectors or the Nikes.!
