NHL Gloves Between Periods?

Recommended Posts

So just because I'm sitting here and just watched, wondered and have time.... What do they do with them? Seems like "almost" everyone dumps them in the bin, where do they go? Assume some type of dryer? What is it? Is it like a bunch of post dryers that they go on?

Do they do this with other gear that we don't see?

Do they do this at lower levels? High end D1?

Someone in the know can correct me, but I don't think it is uncommon for guys to have 2 sets of gloves. I've seen quite often, mid period, a trainer bringing a guy 2 gloves. I assume they practice with a pair in the morning...start the game with a dry pair, then keep rotating and drying gloves throughout the game.

2 sets is standard. Some guys are using 4-6 pairs a game!

I've noticed guys handing their gloves back to the trainer when they come to the bench. Probably swapping out for a dry pair. I remember Raymond Bourque as a guy who wore 6 pairs a game, switching part way through each period. Actually, if I had a training staff and an NHL budget I'd do the same. Wet gloves suck.
