Reebok Helmet

Recommended Posts

Greetings, and thanks for adding me to the mod squad. I just got a Reebok 5k helmet with a cage and I cannot get the chin pad adjusted to fit my chin. No matter how much I adjust the helmet the chin pad area sits to low and my chin only touches the top of the chin pad. Does anyone have any sugeestions on how to get the chin pad adjusted? I tried to take the chin pad off but it seems to be on the cage pretty good. I can post some photos if that would help?

I have the 5K in L and the corresponding FM 5K in L and this thing is really huge so that might be the case here.

And there is no sensible way to adjust the positioning of the Facemask so i am keeping it so that it doesn't touch my chin at all.

I end up having to sell the 5k helmet with a separate Bauer cage instead of a rbk 5k combo (helmet+cage) because of the the stupid chin pad design. Its just stuck really low at that angle with no give or movement at all so a lot of people can't get it to sit properly on their chin. Only thing I can suggest is removing the chin piece and seeing if any shops have spare chin pieces that you can put on your cage.

Thanks for the comments. I got the helmet fitted just right and I'm going to check the J clips and maybe adjust those. I did try and remove the chin pad but it seems to be secured by riviots and not snaps? I'd have to tare the chin pad off to remove it.

I purchased the Reebok 7k large with cage and had the same problem like you are experiencing (cage was too long). I went back to LHS to return the helmet combo and explained the SA my problem. He swapped the large cage for medium cage and all of the sudden, perfect fit. If you purchased the helmet combo at LHS, you can try to ask them if they can swap the cage for you. I didn't have to pay anything extra. LHS was TH.

I got mine from Ice Warehouse. I may contact them and see if I can swap out the cage. What's LHS?

You could try to mount the facemask by switching the holders on top of the facemask so that the facemask is mounted a bit hgher. Didn't help much with me but made it a little better.

Helmets are sized according to circumference whereas cages are sized according to face length. Although you may fit a Large helmet, you may not necessarily fit a Large cage.
