Easton Warranty Replacement for a V9?

Recommended Posts

So I broke the new Easton V9 that I bought on sale from my LHS after 3 days and 2 days. I called up Easton and they gave me my warranty number and told me to send it back. I asked if I would be receiving the same stick (V9 E28 85) because it's a 2013 model and is barely for sale anymore even online. They said their stock is "live" so they couldn't tell me but if they don't have more they will replace it with a "comparable 2015 model" but there really isn't one? Any people here with Easton warranty replacement? The only thing I can think of them giving me is a CX maybe? Or maybe an HTX but that's not a 2015 model.

I assume you'll be receiving an HTX. It's essentially an upgraded V9 but there's some confusing info out there about it going from a low kick (V9) to a mid kick (HTX). I had no troubles going from the V9 to the HTX, blade definitely feels a little less "poppy" and more dampened IMO.

A guy on my team broke his Mako a few weeks ago and received a Synergy HTX as a replacement. I agree with Chase that you'll get an HTX. Although I didn't have the same dampened blade issue going from V9 to HTX. Blade durability on the other hand...

The sad part is that I REALLY liked my V9. So you think there's almost no chance I'll get another V9? My specs are probably popular. 85 flex E28... Probably one of the most common purchased

If you're that attached to V9s, Hockey1 has been clearing them out. I grabbed myself a couple of the V9Es they were blowing out to protect my stock of Iginla curves.

I sent out my stick today, they said the replacement will be coming from Montreal but didn't say what it was. 3 day priority to get to the west coast and 1-2 days to process and at that time they will tell me what they sent if I call. It'd be a miracle if I got a CX but an HTX is still a good stick I assume. How does the V9 play compared to the HTX? I swore the V9 was a fused one piece HIGH KICK and the V9E was the low kick?

Not a chance. Mostly like an HTX. And don't worry too much, you'll like it! V9 was a low kick point stick, V9E was they're lowest kick point stick with the elliptical taper.

The HTX will kick the same but it'll have a different puck feel. IMO, I thought it was less poppy, Jazzy didn't feel the same way though.

I've been stuck on Bauer for a long time but after playing with that V9 there's just something about when the puck hits my blade from a pass, or how it feels sending one, that snappy crack sound when the puck snaps off the blade. I can see now why people insist on using Easton even though they aren't known for their longevity. I let me friend use my stick for a few shifts and the nexus 8000 and mx3 I used while he had my stick just didn't have that same touch

Still crossin' my fingers for you 60+.. I totally understand the love of the V9 puck feel, I still remember the first time I took mine out. Gotta love that quick pop/snap. Have you tried the 1X yet? It's got the most liveliness and pop from Bauer and might be a route for you to take down the road.

I actually have two 1X right now but they are P88 (I switched to e28) and they're too stiff (102) so I'm selling them. Between the curve and the flex they aren't working like they should for me. The V9 was my first try at the E28 and I'm hooked. I still ignorantly had no idea that the V9 was a low kick. I thought the V9e was the low kick and the V9 was a high kick. Limited availability of the curve I use makes it tough.

I did some stick handling with a stick handling ball today with some sticks, one of them being an HTX E28 85 flex and for what I was doing the puck feel was as follows

Shaft dimensions and puck feel rank

1. HTX

2. CX and 1X tie

3. Tacks

4. Ribcor 40k

5. MX3

6. 8000

The one thing that let the HTX beat out the 1X and CX by a hair were the shaft dimensions. Super close otherwise but wow that CX is nice looking and feeling. There's just not enough durability feedback for me to roll the dice on one at $300 with Eastons durability history

I used the HTX for the first time tonight, played two games. You were right about the dampened feel compared to the V9. It was still very good but not as lively as the V9 but I actually liked my shots with the HTX better than the V9. Even though it's a mid kick my wrist shots were much hotter than with the V9. Less feel, barely and noticeable amount of power increase. If you ask me there's a reason people stick with Easton even if they aren't lasting very long
