Helmet and Cage question

Recommended Posts

I'm in the market for a new helmet before the new season.. so far I've looked at the Bauer Reakt 100 and CCM resistance... I like the way the reakt 100 looks more but the CCM Resistance comes in a cage combo that's supposed to be top notch for visibility..

Our team wears white helmets.. was thinking either Reakt 100 with Black (white inside/oreo) cage or the CCM resistance cage combo..

What do you guys think? What helmets do you like and what cages have the best visibility?

Also I don't want anything that rusts and I kind of like the black cage on white helmet look

Also I want something that doesn't rust easy and I kind of like the black on white helmet/cage look

Try both on and see which one fits better. In my scenario, neither does. If you are buying the combo, make sure you are the same size (ex. Medium for cage and helmet) otherwise you will need to buy them separately anyway. I've never had a cage rust up on me either, it comes down to how well you take care of it.

Buy the helmet that fits best - try on a variety of brands, models and sizes and then pick the one that fits best. Be wary of combos because sometimes you need a medium helmet and a large cage or a variety of other size combinations. The helmet should fit so that the top of the helmet sits about a half an inch above your eyebrows and should fit as tight as possible with minimal to no negative space, but at the same time have no painful hot spots. When it's properly tightened it should stay relatively still when you move your head quickly from side, back and forth and up and down.

First find a helmet that fits you well and then buy a cage where your chin sits in the cup properly - this may be the same size as the helmet and it may not.

I'm very happy with the visibility of the Bauer Re-Akt cage. It has flat bars and is very light and doesn't rust because it's made of titanium.

You guys are right... now that I'm playing college club I should probably make sure I have a better fit! I'll go there and try everything on! Thanks for your input boys!

Lemme know how the fitting goes and if you wanna save a few extra bucks cause i have a great condition white re akt 100 (M) that i have to sell cause i have to get a black one. The whole ccm having a better set up for visibility is all in the cage, the helmet doesn't affect that. You can always just get any cage you want on its own.
