Bauer Supreme 180 or 190 skates for amateur league player

Recommended Posts

Well I'm changing my skates since my old CCM V03 toe was torn apart by slapshot.

Few facts about my play:

  • I play in regonial amateur league in Germany (but I live in Poland near the border)

  • I'm RW

  • I've been playing for 10 years now

  • Last model I used was CCM V03 size 9 width D - half the size to big now that I think

  • On inline I use old Vapor XVR Lite size 8,5 width R and now I've bought Missions T7 size 8,5 width R

So I know that I need 8,5 Bauer size skates with EE width - Missions are to narrow for me, even after baking, but old Vapors which are really torn out are fine but the shell is to soft.

The problem is that I do not have LHS in Poland and closest would be for me to travel to Berlin - about 200km, so I have to buy them on-line.

Yesterday I've tried my brother's old Supreme One 70 width EE - they were 9's, so half the size to big, but felt good. Except the spot on ankles where tongue was biting my ankle since it was going deep into boot. I have very thick and wide foot and I have this in every skate - except new Missions T7 I've bought.

So I'm looking for wide skates where I won't have problem with tounge/ankle thing.

So basicly I've narrower it down to Supreme 180 and Supreme 190.

  • Supreme 180 - 265EUR

  • Supreme 190 - 365EUR

These are preety decent prices for this level of skates but I'm thinking if should I go for the 190 or save some money and buy 180. I can afford 190 but I would like to avoid spending a lot of money for skates not equal to my level of play.

I play only in amateur league. Will the difference betweend 180 and 190 be felt by me?

190 defends themselves with Hydra-max liner and nice protection around upper edge of the boot. I think that thicker tounge is a minus. They also have coposite outsole.

Both have Curve3D composite upper, decent LS blades, are heat moldable, and are available on stock in store I want to buy them.

You may not notice a difference between 180 and 190. I'm also confused why you are certain you need EE width, you've been playing in regular width skates and use regular width vapors for inline, supremes are a wider fit than vapors in regular, regular width in supreme may fit fine.

I have the 180's. They're just great skates, very durable and stiff (at least to my liking) the differences will be the 190 has a somewhat stiffer quarter, carbon composite outsole, flex able tendon, comfort edge, and ls3 steel (which has a 10ft radius compared to the 9ft of the ls2) I put ls4 in mine though because I skate better on a 10ft radius and don't really need the composite outsole as I'm not really heavy enough to get full use out of it. So I hope some of that info was of help!

I've always gone with the 1st step down in the Supreme line. I prefer the felt tongue and don't feel the need to pay the extra money for the extra bells and whistles. JMO...

Well this was pasted from another site with some missing lines and info but I know I need EE since Vapor R and Missions D are too narrow for me and my middle part of the foot hurts. I also tried supremes in EE and they fit me.

Well I will go with the 180s then. I'm not heavy and no pro so I do not need composite outsole and stoffer boot.

I own a pair of the 190 and would say they are pretty stiff too. Alought i am 6'4 (191) and 215 lbs. I believe the 180 are very good option too and perhaps slightly softer but still a stiff skate.

Good luck!

I went with 180 and they came today. They fit almost perfect. Skates are standing for their name - they are indeed supreme! Vely light and very stiff. My only concern is if the liner will be at the poper level to keep my foot dry and not fall apart after few years.

Now I need to bake them. I've contacted nearest LHS whch is in Berlin (around 160km from Poland where I live) and they came up with 50 EUR price for baking.... That's damn expensive considering that baking oven costs around 400 EUR....

In that case I'm gonna bake them at home. Any advices?

There are a lot of topics here about baking at home, just make sure you don't confuse the temperature in fahrenheit with celsius

If I'm not mistaken, you bake them one at a time in a preheated convection oven for about 3 minutes at about 90°C, but don't quote me on it. Look at the box if theres a sticker with baking instructions, time and temp (I don't know about bauer, but ccm has that sticker)

Another question: where can you get the supreme 190 for 365€? They are at least 450€ here in germany?
