Need info on Easton Synergy HSX Elbow Pads

Recommended Posts

they are on sale now, and I am considering buying a pair.

Unfortunately, I can only buy a guess work.

So, can you guys give some info on these pads?

I am playing a rec league and I am now using x7.0 pads, they are a little over protective and a little bulky for me.

Thanks!

update:1 out of 3 choice, Easton HSX/Warrior AX1/RBK 20K, which is the most mobile and stays in place?

What kind of info are you looking for? I used them for a bit, found them comfortable and very mobile but they stopped staying in place on my arm and the middle strap stretched out very fast. I liked them up until then. Switched to Reebok 20k's and haven't looked back.

Honestly speaking, I need all kinds of info :)

Your info is very helpful to me because mobility and staying in place are my top 2 priorities.

Great thanks for your input!

The strap issue could have been solved by some minor alterations like repositioning the velcro or shortening the strap but I opted to switch them out.

You should check out the RBZ line from CCM and the STX Surgeons too. All three fit differently so between them you should be able to find which will fit you best and give you the mobility you are looking for.

I just switched from a vapor XXV, was before the X40, then the 7.0 if I recall correctly. Regardless they are all the same 3 piece design.

I found the Easton pro 10 to be the closest out of all the pads I tried.

If all the pads you mentioned were too bulky, you may want to veer away from top of the line pads.

That's true.

I tried on RBZ 110 elbow pads. They have tons of mobility and are super lightweight! But they sorta fall short on forearm protection.

If I had 120 bux to spend on elbows, I will definitely buy the RBZ top line.

Have you looked at the RBZ 130 elbows? I've been using those for 10 months now with good success and they can be had for $50.

All of my protective gear is the new synergy HSX stuff. I've had them for about a year now and they're pretty comfy, and pretty mobile.

The only thing I don't like on them is how bulky the elbow portion is. It is purely an asthetics thing on my end, and the inconvenience if I get a jersey that has narrow sleeves. It gets stuck easily on the elbow pads at that point.

Other than that, they are very nice pads.

I haven't tried the AX1 pads but I love my 20k's. I was concerned about mobility, and yes they are more restrictive than the HSX pads were, but after a couple skates they loosened up and I don't notice any restrictions to movement during play. I actually don't notice them at all, which is amazing to me for elbow pads. No slipping, great protection, and I don't worry about them after they're on my arms.

That said, those are my experiences with the 20k pads. Yours may be different if they don't fit your arm right so try them on if you can.
