Gloves

Recommended Posts

Got my daughter some Eagle Talon gloves and they are showing some wear along the back and thumb - some of the 'stuffing' is showing. Palms look fine. She's played maybe 12 games in them and probably 45 hours of practice. What life expectancy is there for gloves? Just seems to me that gloves should last longer than less than half a season but perhaps I am being unrealistic?

Second, my son has short fingers and big, wide hands. He hates the Talons and Bauer Vapors. I see Winnwell is clearanced on HM. How are these gloves?

Gloves should last much longer than 12 games. I've played in my current gloves for two years. Granted, I'm playing beer league hockey 2-3 times a week, but again, that's two years worth. There's no reason her gloves should fall a part. Question, how is she ripping up the back hand of the glove so bad? Normally the palm is the first thing to go for most people.

Yeah, I don't know what she did to her gloves. Actually it is the back hand of just one glove. Maybe some stick or skate impacts? Hard to say but glad to know it isn't typical. I know she's had puck impacts but doubt pucks could tear up a glove.

Planning to get her another pair so on tournament days she'll have dry gloves for at least the start of the games. Overseas manufacture is always suspect to me and with the Eagles being made in China it is easy to blame the gloves for not being durable in spite of the substantial cost. Even still, I think we're going to try something different. Maybe the Winnwells or both kids seem to like the Warrior fit, so maybe those.

I am assuming these are the gx8 model? I just ordered a pair and they are really nice. They are four rolls so his big hands should be fine in them. Really impressed with them. They were originally 100$ at one point I believe so getting them for 35$ is a no brainer. Especially in Rangers colors.

No, haven't contacted Eagle nor do I plan to. I don't think a little accelerated wear is worth contacting them over although it makes me happy that they are so customer concerned. If its just a blown stitch I'm sure I can handle it and if it is more sinister then I'll just replace it and move on. Was mostly curious what the lifespan of hockey gloves should be.

Yes, GX-8's. Maybe not Rangers colors, maybe just black or Blackhawks colors! Thanks for feedback on fit.

So what does the roll count mean as far as how a glove fits? Or does that just mean roll count and fit is specific to glove model?

Four roll typical means a traditional fit.  A little bit roomy. There also are four actual rolls.
