My son is starting his 2nd year of travel hockey.  I'm trying to settle on which skates to get him.  I've narrowed it down to these:

A)  Bauer Vapor X80 - New

B) Bauer Vapor X100 Limited Edition - Used - "good shape to great shape".  The LE model is a limited edition model with Black and Lighting as the Primary colors.  In addition to the standard steel (LS2) you'll receive Bauer's top end steel, LS4

C) Bauer Vapor X700 - Used - "These hockey skates were worn for one season of house hockey and no longer fit for this season. These skates were bought new last year and baked only one time. Very well cared for. No rust on the blades."

The cost is about the same with all 3.

A, B or C?

Any insight to help me figure out which would be the best pair would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The x700 is very similar to the x80 in terms of specs.  Given the choice, I would choose the x80, as it's a new skate, and has a composite outsole.

The x100 is a curv boot, so very stiff.  You haven't said how old your son is.  If he is 13 or younger, I would say stick with the x80 for sure.

I have worn both skates and personally prefer the mesh boot of the x80 over the curv boot of the x100.

Having said all that, if he's already in a curv boot, he may not like the softer mesh boot.

How old is he and what level of travel hockey?

06 PWAA? I'd go with the X80.

Just curious, he's in his second yr of travel and he's already AA? Is this Squirt AA (In CA, there's no AA for squirts) or Peewee? What state or country are you in?

What's your sons weight? Unless you're in junior sizes, I'd stick with the X80 or X700 if he's on the lighter side.

I jumped the gun a little, and my phone won't let me edit the post. Here's what I meant to say:

What's your sons weight? Obviously, used skates will be broken in a bit, mitigating the stiffness of a higher end skate, however they may not fit your son's feet as they have started to get used to the feet of the previous wearer. I'd stick with the new X80 so that your son gets the right fit.
