Bauer 190 vs 180 fit

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Considering and prepping for some replacement skates with previous model clearance sales.. if sizes are still available.

It used to be the top/one down from top tier of the Bauer supreme line had a slightly roomier fit than the next tier down.  (One95 vs One75, One100 vs One80, One.9 vs One.8).  I would say this was the case having been in the one95, one.8/9.  Looking through the forum, I'm seeing posts saying the 190 and 180 were the same fit, or people not feeling the fit was the same.  Was the fitment changed for the 190 revamp?  Or does it still hold true the 190 is slightly roomier and you can probably go down half a size compared to going 180?

I know, easier to just try them on... but I'm considering buying used or need to locate both models with stock of size remaining..

That is a tough question to answer as much of "fit" has to do with the characteristics of your foot and personal preference.  While I can't speak to your exact situation, when I was getting skates about 3 years ago I tried the one.9 and the NXG skates.  The fit was near identical with the tongue and tendon guard being the only difference that I could tell.  I ended up with the NXG mostly because they gave me the same price on either as they were clearanced out.  If possible go in for a fitting.  Best wishes.

I fit perfectly length-wise in a 7.5D 190, while the 7.5D 180 was tight.  An 8D 180 feels not bad, while an 8D 190 feels way too big.  7.5D MX3 also felt a little small.

Make of that what you will, but I feel the 180 fits a quarter to half size larger than the 190.

I thought they fit very similar.  The huge difference is the tongue.  The 190 has a thicker felt and a hard plastic curve composite metatarsal guard.  That was what sold me on the 190s.  Havent had any lace bite issues in a year in tbe skates.  He 180s have a thinner tongue and just a foam pad.  Breakds down easily.  Everyone I know that has the 180s replaced the tongue within a year.

The other differences are the steel (taller in the 190) and the radius (10' in the 190 vs 9' in the 180).  So aside from fit you will want to consider that.
