Same size skates different fit?

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of 7 EE grafs and 7 EE ccm tacks, the foot bed is even a little bigger for the grafs, yet my toe doesn't extend as far in the tacks as it does in the grafs? The skate boot for the Graf also seems to be slightly larger? How is this even possible and is there a way for my toe to extend further to the end of the boot?

Because no two brands or even lines within brands will fit exactly the same. Newsflash, the same is true of shoes, jeans, or any other thing that has sizes.

Obviously, but the footbed is longer  in the Graf, yet it fits the length of my foot better than the smaller tacks footbed ( where my toes come up short of the cap) Thanks for the help.

Number are just numbers. How one brand measures size in their products may differ from how another band measures them, so this can create variations on fit and sizing.

So in your case, it's quite possible that if you were to use CCM measuring standards on your Grafs, the Grafs would measure as a size 7.5.  Another quick example to show how things can vary even within brands, if you take a Bauer Supreme skate size EE in width. It's the same as--or at least very very close to--a Bauer Nexus skate size D in width.

This is why IMHO it can be quite tricky when buying skates on line. You can never tell how a skate is going to fit from just the numbers/letters. You have to actually try them on.

Grow your toenails longer? Find a medieval torture rack and stretch your foot on it? Hang from the ceiling by your toes? Transplant a hobbits foot?
