Wheel set up - hardness?

Recommended Posts

Wondering what wheel set ups you folks out there use i.e. all the same hardness or a mix of 2 softer front or back etc etc.

Really interested to know what set up those who play on rockers use. I use the softer rink rat hornets. The front 2 stay fine but the back 2 really bust up pretty quick.

Make the back two 78A Hornets, and you should be ready to go.....

I usually use all hard (78A) Hornets/Hotshots, because I bust up soft weels like shit ;)

I go all rink rat hornets from the back wheel to the 2nd. They I use an extremely soft wheel in front (gripper mill. xsoft or dynasty xsoft). I weigh 165 and I have no probs with all the hornets in back. Speed is great. And I feel the soft front wheel is good for quick first steps to really dig in, and good to pivot on for quick turns, digs in and holds real nice.

When I skated Labedas, I used Millenium X-Soft for the front and back wheels, and Gripper Soft wheels for the inner two positions.

Since switching to Rink Rats (have used both Hornets and Hotshots), I've used the 62/76 durometer for all 4 wheel positions without any trouble.

I too go all Tritons from the back wheel to the 2nd. I use a Rink Rat hornet 78Awheel in front. I have no probs with all the Hornets in front outdoors. Speed is great. I concur 100% with the following

Currently using all hotshots...I have a 6-7 game tourny soon on a pure orbcourt rink.

But when Im playing in the reg season I train on coated concrete. To protect my front and back wheel I use the following setup...

1st wheel 72mm RinkRat WC, 2nd and 3rd RinkRat HotShot 72mm and 80mm, 4th wheel 80mm RinkRat WC.

I have found that when I go from coated concrete and orbcourt this setup provides the best grip, durability and perfromance.
