Intermediate vs senior dimensions

Recommended Posts

A few months ago I switched from senior to intermediate sticks in order to take advantage of the lower flex offered in intermediate models. Since the switch I've been told that intermediate sticks have smaller blades and shaft diameters. I'm 6' 175lbs so obviously a physique more suited to senior dimensions. Should this be a concern?

I use senior sticks and my wife uses intermediates. A quick and dirty measurement of the circumferences has her A6.0 and Ultra Tacks at 3 1/2”, and my Alpha and Nexus sticks at 3 5/8”. If I pick them up at the same time, I don’t notice a difference in shaft dimensions.

Blades of int sticks have always seemed the same as senior to me. Besides Mission, I think every company’s int shafts used senior blades for 2 piece sticks.

From what I've seen Intermediates have the same blade size as seniors. Yes, their shaft dimensions may be slightly smaller, but if the stick feels fine to you then don't worry, and don't over think it. Plenty of adults use intermediates.

Warrior definitely uses a smaller shaft dimension on their intermediates. The Bauer and True sticks I’ve used seem super close to senior size, if not the same.
