Ok.  Now that that's over, what prevents any of the play-in teams to start purposely tanking, say if they go down 2 games to none, so they get a good shot at Lafreniere?  Am I missing something?  Can someone explain to me if I'm misunderstanding the way the lottery worked?

Nothing prevents them from doing so. That said, I’m not sure risking your chance at a cup in a crapshoot playoffs by a team that shouldn’t even have the opportunity is probably not the best idea.

Remember, it’s the teams that tank, not the players.
