i did a search, but couldn't find anything on this. For as long as I've been playing hockey, I have never been able to find ANYONE that could figure out what the thumb loop on hockey gloves is for. I've heard everything from "a slot to put your stick in" to "it makes it easy to carry them" can anyone give me an answer on this one??

I believe it is there so you can have a locked thumb for protection (and against hyperextension) but have a mobile thumb you can grip the stick with
