CCM Vector 110

Recommended Posts

My friend is broke. He has about a zillion sticks and only uses like 2 :( Therefore he is trying to sell me some(I have another post about a Synergy with a Drury pattern that he is also selling) anyway I am almoat convinced I want this Vector 110, I just dont know much about it as I have never used a CCM stick. Can Anyone tell me some pros/cons for this stick, and if over all performance is any good?

searching will probably yield a lot of feedback, but the general consenus is that they are tanks as far as durability goes, but not the greatest feel. I have a v120 and I personally like it. I know there are a few new materials in the 120, but I believe its pretty similar to the 110. My only gripe is the blade construction, but the feel is not as bad as people say, and its held up pretty well the last six months. So, if the price is right, and you like the flex/pattern, go for it.

If you cut a V110 blade in half you would see that it is almost solid all the way through, no "foam" fillers like Eastons and others. This makes it a very durable stick. They eventually will delaminate starting at the toe, but you can mend that and slow down wear using some 2 part epoxy. Overall it's a good stick, so if you get a good price and it feels good to you, go for it.

Mine has out lasted any the other OPS that I have used. If the price is right, and the curve is workable for you, go for it.

Pros:

- Solid and more durable than average OPS

- Good Balance

- With right flex for you, it'll help you yeild a strong shot

Cons:

- Slight bit heavier than the average OPS

- images on the shaft are stickers that tend to peel

Be sure to also check out the reviews section as there are likely a few there.

I have never heard people complaining about the puck feel on the V110 (at least, not like they do with the Synnergy).

Vectors are supposed to be very durable, and produce good shot speed (some Windsor study from a few years ago).

Biggest complaints that I have heard (and have myself with the V120) is about the fit/finish. Both the V110 and V130 have stickers on as graphics instead of paint. The stickers give sort of an impression of being cheap pre-school type thing, and the stickers get chewed up over time and make for a flaky shaft.

Stick wise, however, good stuff. Someone mentioned that they are heavier than the average OPS, but I don't think that is actually true. I think the V110 is 460 grams, which is likely average these days. Even if not, the difference between a 395g Stealth and a 460g shaft is about 2 to 3 ounces (someone did a conversion not that long ago - don't remember the exact figure). That equates to not even 1/3 of a 12 ounce can of cola or 2 shots of tequila. Hardly worth noting in my opinion.

NoTE: the V120 has a different blade than the V110 (the V120 has that metalic-matrix thing).

From my experience

Pro's

- Shot Velocity

- Durability

- Balance

Cons

- Weight

- Slickness

- Curve Selection (Drury Lover)

- Flex selection

- The blade does chip fairly easily, doesn't break or effect performance

- Feel

I think if you can find a curve and flex you like, and aren't a fan of grip it's a GREAT stick. The feel of the blade isn't bad, but I would say its a drawback. Of all the first OPS I found my shots were best with this. The stickers do peel, really is a non-issue for me. I think its a heavy stick, but its fairly well balanced to offset that. It doesnt have amazing balance, but enough so your don't feel its overly heavy.

My V110 lasted one and a half years. From all the slashes it took there were only paint marks but never a crack nor even a chip in the blade. What I noticed, though was that it became flexier after say 9 months or so....then from each pratice to practice it became softer so in the end the torque became too much to keep my shots in place. That´s the only disadvantage in my opinion. The blade has a composit core that´s why I guess it is so durable but as other pointed out already it looses it´s stiffness after a while. As for the flex and blade selection I can´t complain either. Here in Europe we now have I think 7 patterns and 3 flexes to choose from.

Is fatique limited to just the V110? I know wood is famous for fatiquing over time. The various graphite composites are supposed to be tons better, but was never sure if they were supposed to be fatique-proof or not. I always presumed that they, too, would still fatique.

I suppose noticing this, however, would be dependent on how heavy a user you are, size/strength of the user, flex of the stick, and whether you tend to take tons of slapshots or not.

Anyone else notice fatiqueing of composites (in the general sense, not just nesc. limited to the V110)?

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

My blades definately go soft (composite) after time. Generally I can get a month or two when I am on a team without them going soft. I find actual blades to be better than OPS. This is on ice as well, roller seems to hold up much better.

Well that´s kind of funny because all the other composites I used to play never lived long enough to examine the fatigue effects. (shaft wise) :o I always broke the Synergy and the Response blades pretty quickly that´s because they are filled with foam I guess. That leaves the bottom line of the blade much more vulnerable to cracks since its not backed up with a stiff substance. So with my V110 maybe it was just the combination of the shaft getting whippier as well...I can´t really tell....but I think that fatigue effect applies to composite shafts and blades as well.

a lot of people find the feel bad on these sticks, but i love it, out of all the ops ive used id say it comes second in feel after the si-core, but thats just me
