Any idea where to find those these days? I've been looking for a new pair for years.  The 55flex website doesn't exist any longer.

No actually. I've looked a few times out of curiosity. The easiest solution seemed to be trying to make it with a 3D printer and the right kind of plastic or going to a cobbler to see if they could work it out.

Yeah, I’ve been looking too. Closest I found are these

anyone have experience with those?

probably glass reinforced nylon or nylon 12 if I had to make a first guess. considering its likely to take puck impacts 3d printing might not be the best route. I think your best bet would just entail cutting your own. maybe chop up the shell of an old shin guard or see if you can get a manufactured sheet of nylon reinforced polymer (like the stuff they use for magpul stocks or g19 frames.) easiest option would certainly be some thick leather/synthetic leather. Any cobbler should be able to do it, but they just won't be rigid pieces like the original 55flex product you were looking for.

Why wouldn't 3d printing be a viable option here?  It all depends on which material you use.  CF would probably work as well as ABS.  Obviously don't use something like PLA....
