synergy's vs stelth and sicores

Recommended Posts

The Si-Core Grip I have is the best stick I have ever used. Maybe because its the only 85 Flex grip Drury stick I've used, but I feel the puck jumps off the blade almost as well as my Xn10 and the puck feel is better, not by any stretch is it ALOT better, but it is a little better. Durability has been good. Switching to a Stealth last practice was nice, but I just can't adapt to the Sakic curve, or at least I don't want to. I never had a problem with regular Synergies for performance, but Durability and feel seemed to be large issue after the semi-circles were introduced and even before they added the coating on the blades I didn't think the durability was good (this excludes the original grey Synergy, which I've never used)

My Drury 85 Si Core Grips are studs in every category, including durability. I had one last me 6 months skating 6 times a week, and it probably would have been longer if I wasn't such a hothead and banged my stick all over the ice.

I loved the original Synergy. Had me a 100 flex Sakic and it lasted the whole year. Was way better than the original Response. I never tried a si core but have a Z carbon si core paired with an Ultra Lite and it is bottom heavy and the feel isn't any better than the Synergy. As for the Stealth I have only handled it in stores seeing as I don't wanna fork out $280 (sale price) for it.

Would $225 Canadian be a good price for a brand new Si core grip?

I paid $260 for mine and I think it was worth every penny. But if you don't need grip (which I don't get the impression you do) and you don't think theres an increase in feel (which you said you didn't) and you don't need a difficult pattern/flex combo (which you don't) I wouldn't suggest it. Go with a regular Synergy 100 Sakic if you want a Stick and the whole line is on sale.

Well I've used them all and I can definitely say based on personal preference that the stealth exceed any other Easton stick I've ever used. In fact, it's definitely the best stick I've used to date. The balance is fantastic and all-around, it just feels great. I like the original synergys as well, in particular some of the older ones with the z-tac coating on the blade, those things held up great! I tried a couple si-cores and never really liked them, however. Something about them just didn't feel right. Like I said earlier though, this is all PP, and you need to form your own opinions. What other people think about a stick may be completely different from your thoughts.

i really dislike my stealth.

Its not nearly what i expected.

I personally would not buy one. I love my synergy and will probably go back to using it.

I just dont know what is wrong with the stealth but it doesnt seem quite right.

The shaft shape on the Stealth is much, very noticeably smaller than the standard shape Synergy. If you don't like a pro-radius, contoured, intermediate-feeling shaft, you will not like the Stealth.

Also the stick plays very light, meaning a player with a wood stick or 450+ grams stick can easily knock your stick up and off the puck. Unless you are a 100% true finesse player I would not recommend the stealth.

As far as the SiCore . . . the Si-core is just a Synergy with two 1inch by 1inch gel squares in the top of the blade. And ESP Technology is typical Junk Marketing. If it weren't they wouldn't be scapping it after only four years. I personally prefer the Synergy Grip. Best control, hard slap-shots . . . what else could you want.

actually I have the piece of silicone from my first broken sicore in my hands right now. It was at the bottom of the blade as well, right in the middle on the forehand (where it should be). It is turqouise. The length is 2.5 inches, and a height of 1 inch, exact measurements.

Regardless, it does not translate to improved feel. A good technology founded on solid fundamentals with proven results will last decades and only be improved upon. ESP was introduced in early 2000 and production has been ceased only four years later.

First, the Stealth is slimmer but still has a very box-like shape, not pro-radius (rounded). Second, the weight of a stick has nothing to do with how easy an opponent can lift your stick, that is determined by how strong you are on your stick. Third, I am far from a finesse player and have had a ton of success playing my kind of game with the Stealth.

Any other foolish statements???

What's a foolish statement is to discount my personal opinion and preference. It's also ignorant. But hey, opinions are like a******s - - everyone's got one.

From my experience, when I used the stealth and another player using a wooden stick hit my stick up it went up a lot easier than any of the 450+ one-pieces I have used. I am a grinder, I spend a fair bit of time along the boards, in the corners, and crashing the net. And the weight, fragility and smallish handle of the Stealth did not suit my game - - In My Opinion. And regardless of the handle shape, the shaft is so damn skinny it feels To Me Like a Pro Radius or Contour Shaped Shaft - - In My Opinion. I dont' care if it's still a box shape, a small enough box shape feels almost like a pro-radius to me.

But I am glad to see the Stealth has brought you success. After all, Easton's marketing team promises: More Speed + More Control= More Goals. If you buy the Stealth you will gain more speed, more control and thus more goals, guaranteed! And that's not a Personal Opinion; it's an Easton Corporate Fact! It says so in black and white on their website and literature so it has to be true! Thank God for Corporate Hockey Innovations. If not for new and improved sticks how the hell could players improve their games! If only Gretzky had a Stealth in his day, he woulda amassed 3,000 plus points!

Go ahead and retort Chippa, . . . unlike you, I won't call your opinions and personal preferences foolish. Because to tell another person what theirown Personal Opinion and Preferences are . . . that would be foolish.

No offense Modo, but the comments you made first were presented as fact rather than opinion. I'm sure if you presented them as opinions you wouldn't have had a response like Chippa's.

If you wanna know the bottomline, cold-hearted, down-right truth: I am tired of all the tools on this board (myself included) buying the latest gimmick and Junk Marketing taglines Corporate America/Canada are throwing at us. I am especially pissed with the Stealth. Unlike the XN10 (which has a regular sized shaft) Easton thinned out the walls and literally shrunk the shaft size of their stick--and voila they've reinvented the one-piece. B.S. In My Opinion. Take the original Synergy, make it stronger, don't change the handle size, keep the kevlar, and get it down to 395 grams, improve blade durability, don't have marketing paint it glow-in-the-dark colors and put a 10/11 performace rating on it. Just sell it as a lighter more durable stick. We don't need the B.S. gel insert, longest taper, hottest blade face, nano-tube tecnology, hexagon molecularly structured, boron-spine bulls***. It's all freaking crap. Benoit Hogue plays in my league, although the league above me and I had the fortune of playing one game next to him. We were down two goals with two minutes to go, and I was five feet from him when he used is Bauer woody to scorch that puck passed the goalie twice from just outside the blueline. I was in awe witnessing this man release a shot of the likes I've never seen so close, ever in my life.

No Stick Will ever improve your game.

Easton took an intermediate Synergy, stretched it out, added some stiffness and you guys all think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Somebody, (I don't have my Stealth anymore) measure the circumference of the Stealth and then the circumference of a standard stick. I think you'll all be surprised to see you are using a very long intermediate stick. That'll prove the fact and prove my opinion.

And by somebody, I mean somebody competent enough to measure precise to the millimeter.

You're assuming people are buying these things as aids and expecting them to turn them into good hockey players. For the most part people on this board who tend to have the latest and greatest are either getting it as a child from their parents, so the decision is ultimately upto the parents or else they are older and are paying themselves.

Because you're buying a top-end stick makes you an idiot is the implied message in your post, or at least thats the message I get behind it. If someone is stupid enough to buy it based on the belief they will be better, let'em, if they buy it because they have extra money laying around and its a stick they want let'em. If people are opting to take the money for a Stealth out of their grocery cash so their child (or selves) can goto the NHL I see a problem, but I don't think anyone is stupid enough to do that, especially around here. I think alot of it is more of a hobby factor or a mental edge. You've gone on a few of these rants (as I recall) and nobody disputes your point, you are just saying what we all know. It's the player behind the stick.

You're Beniot Hogue example. Hell he isn't in the NHL anymore, maybe its because he didn't switch to an OPS, I could throw that out there. Throwing the fact he doesn't use an OPS out there doesn't mean anything. Wait not true, it means he doesn't like OPS for one reason or another. It doesn't mean people who have the money and enjoy having the latest and greatest for whatever reason should be deprived of it.

Will an OPS make you a superstar? Can it improve your game? If you believe it will, it generally will. Whether mental or physical everyone has the right, as long as its within their means, to spend money on something like an OPS.

You can use the "do we need it question" over and over again. The answer is no. Do you need steak, shrimp, or other expensive food? No, but sometimes its nice to have. Same goes for clothes, cars, Houses and pretty well anything you can think of in life.

Sorry for the rant, and sorry If I have missed your point Modo. It just seems like your stating the obvious and making assumptions on products you haven't tried (Hex-1 and SL) and from the sounds of it don't intend on buying. Just because you don't feel its a worthy cause you should not put down the "toolse who buy them, especially without knowing the backround or thought process that has led up to the purchase of that particular stick.

hey modo ,theres no need to get mad or anything ,what you said was a bit offensive so yeah ,can you please keep your ***hole talk and calling people tools to yourself ,this is an awesome message board and your making it less awesome ,and actually a stick can improve your game ,not everyone but im sure many people improved their passing and their shooting with one piece sticks ,both those are decently important elements in your game ,so by improving those 2 things ,your game would in fact improve
