To tell if you got a 1/2 inch hollow you will need a machinists radius gauge. If the hollow is 1/2", the guage will fit into the blade exact fit. If light shows under the 1/2" guage, you got a deeper hollow, if it rocks side to side, you got a shallower hollow. You must also test the hollow at several points along the blade. Many poor sharpeners get a good hollow at the toe and heel but suck at getting it at the middle of the blade.

I have customers who go to other shops when I'm closed or when they are at tourneys, and they ask for their regular hollow that I give them. Most of these shops just give them lip service and give them 3/8 or 7/16, their one-size fit all setting. Sad, very sad. If your sharpener does not offer custom hollows for EVERY skater, I'd find another sharpener.

Where can I get one of those and how much do they cost?

I've seen some hollow gauges before on some hockey websites, but they cost like $150.

You could probably make them - all you need are some metal disks the correct radius (5/8",9/16",1/2", 7/16",3/8" etc). Punch a hole in one edge and put them on a fat keyring and you're set. You can skip every second one if you don't need to be too exact - a 7/16" will show as being between a 1/2" and a 3/8"
