I used to buy a fair bit of red, but I have bought a couple rolls of green lately because my school team's colours are white green and black.

I've always used red for my butt ends. Yeah I do know that it stains and tears the hell out of my top glove hand, but it's always just been a habit/superstition...And we all know in hockey, superstitions win out over common sense any day. :P

I would think a checkerboard pattern would be even more distracting. I want black and white checkerboard pattern tape.

White/Black striped tape would be easier to make, and would probably come out checkerboard-ish when you tape the blade. We should try to get a company to make this white/black striped tape.

I use green on my butt ends only because it makes it easier to find my sticks on the bench.

You can just say "hand me the stick with the green tape" instead of saying" hand me that Easton, no not that Easton, the silver Easton, no not that silver Easton, the other silver Easton." B)
