Golf Clubs

Recommended Posts

I've been looking around for some new golf clubs, just irons, but if I could find some drivers I like maybe those too. Nothing overly expensive, but still nice, any suggestions? I tried the new nikes out and didnt like those at all.

A year and a half old wilson, just starting to get more into golf now. Not sure the model or anything. To start I was thinking about getting new grips, but its not even worth getting new grips on them. 2nd the shafts are really really stiff, (easton 120 :)). I dont have much of a problem with the heads, except they arent very forgiving but Im fine with that, but cant stand the shaft/grip.

You didn't like the Nikes at all? I'm very particular with my clubs and those were the only ones that I could really hit constantly. So there goes my suggestion.

Grips are cheap. Most shops around here will do them for $5 a club, including labor. You could also just get them reshafted if you don't mind your current heads. How old, tall, etc are you. That will determine what type of shaft you should get.

I built some knockoff Hogan Apex plus for a buddy of mine and they are great. I'm thiking of ordering some more heads for me, they were that good. Only knock is they aren't forged like my Evos.

How much does reshafting cost, I think just the grips was like 35-50 for a set. :( wish the big bertha irons were a little bit cheaper, I liked those the best, they hit really really nice. Which nikes do you have, slingshots?

You could get some older ping irons if u want. i2's are a very good iron and you could get them for not that much.

It depends on what kind of shafts you get. Anywhere from $5-$50 a club. Try checking out www.golfclubexchange.com if you are looking for a slightly used set.

I love my Mizuno irons, and my Wilson Fatboy driver. All Mizuno clubs are great., only clubs I can hit for some reason.

Maybe Ill try out the mizunos, my friend has some old ping i2's hes willing to give me for like 100 bucks, they are really beat up though. Mizuno makes some pretty nice softball bats too (according to my neighbor).

Buddy of mine got a set of Mizuno T-Zoids and he got rid of them after a month. Eye2's are nice clubs but not as forgiving as most of the new stuff. Getting the right flex shafts is going to make a big difference.

I'm in the market for a new set too. As you know I'm qutie small so the guy at Nevada Bob's ( not sure if they habve stores in the US ) suggested I get a woman's set then when bigger change to men's. For you though I suggest TNT or Spalding irons.

That's pretty much bogus. There are so many options in shafts that you can't generalize like that. Getting the proper flex is important in either steel or graphite as both types come in 4-5 flexes. Generally that doesn't even come into play for most golfers anyway.

Then again, woman sets are cheaper for me. I'm also getting a whole new set ( its my brithday ) and so I'm going for all out. For those of you Canadians, have you been to Golf Town? What's it like, I'm going to be in Vancouver May 1-2 so is it worth checking out?

I love my callaway x-16 pro series, I'm pretty sure you can get the big berthas fairly cheap. Awesome clubs if you want to hit the ball high and straight every time. Good luck working the ball with those though.

The golf town in edmonton is amazing. They have almost every club there imaginable. You can also try out the clubs to see if hit them alright just like at the counrty club. I'm assuming the Golftown in Vancouver will be the same since its a franchise.

Like ljack said though you can get some sweet knockoffs. if you know someone who makes clubs i'd talk to him about what he could make for you.

Golfsmith used to have some good information. I don't recall if it was in the retail section or the clubmakers section.

Good starter clubs can range from used to new clubs. I would go with Northwestern. They are a great club for beginners. Your most important thing to remember, distance will come, work on your accuracy and technique first.
