Bauer 8000 Pant

Recommended Posts

Anyone have anything positive to say about them? I'll be picking up a new pair of pants tomarow from the shop as I'm just not digging my tackla girdle cutting off my circulation anymore. Previously had Quest 2's and loved them. The 8000 seems like a great pant but we don't sell too many in the shop because most people looking in that price range go right to tackla, which, while the construction is great they feel like sticking a "round peg into a square hole."

How about the Quest 1? I love mine, they have just as much protection as the Bauer 8000 but they were about $20 cheaper than the 8000. Very similar features on both, but I think the spine guard on the 8000 is a bit bigger.

I've had the Quest 2 pants and the M-1 pants over the last years and now skate in the 8000s. I loved the Quest 2 for the mobility and the fit but they lacked a bit of protection. The M-1s were tanks but they didn't fit me too well and the durability was horrible. The Bauer 8000 pant is heads and shoulders above any pant I've skated in or tried on in the past.

From looking at the inside construction, I'd say the 8000 is basically a Quest 1+. It looks a lot like the Quest 1 on the inside and it FEELS like the Nike Quest series, only better.

They mobility of the 8000 is sick, especially considering that it's a top protective pant. I love that the 8000 don't have leg zippers but feature low friction panels in the inner thigh area. The whole pant moves very well while skating. The all around protection is top notch. The new spinal protection gel pad (adjustable) doesn't get in the way as much as the Quest series gel pad. Some people have complained about a lack of inner thigh protection on the 8000s but I can't second that.

Overall, as you have used a Quest 2 pant in the past, if you think Bauer 8000s, think Quest 2 (enhanced) mobility and fit with more protection and better materials.

Needless to say: I highly recommend the Bauer 8000 pant.

If you put your pants on after skates with these pants put skate guards on. A guy on my team ripped the inside of his 8000's because of this.

Dave thanks a lot, sounds like exactly what i'm looking for. I may actually opt for the 6000 to sacrifice some protection for the lighter pant, but if the 8000 is barely heavier i'll likely go with them.
