Bauer Vapor VII

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

some days ago i bought a pair of Bauer SFL Vapor VII and inside UNDER the insole, there is some kind of "cap"...

its a white cap and its in the front part of the skate.

i dont know why this thing belongs inside a skate, is it for some kind of foot lifting ?

its kinda hard to explain...

thanks

isnt that to cover up the bolt that tightens the blade?

there is no screw inside the hole, just and empty hole

zak: if you have TUUK Custom+ holders, there are 2 bolts that hold the replaceable steel blade about 1 inch / 2.5 centimetres below the outsole at the toe and heel. If you look at the bottom of the blade holder, you can see little semi-circular grooves at the front and heel; that is to fit in the screw parts. Newer Bauer skates have the holes in the outsole pre-drilled so that the steel blades can be replaced without detaching and reattaching (re-revitting) the blade holder. The plastic caps are for covering up these access holes.

See this thread where JR and jimmy helped me out: Replacing Jr. Tuuk Custom+ blades

okay thanks.. shold i skate with or without this cap ?

Skating with the cap should prevent some sweat from getting in there. I would leave it in.

I would hope skaters are pulling out their footbeds after each skate to help the inside to dry. In this case, removing the caps help the inside of the pillar to dry as well. If you don't remove your footbeds, leave the caps in

It should be mentioned on the skates if they are heat mouldable. However, you can basically bake ANY skate as any material will go soft when heated. I baked my Vapor 8s back in the day when Bauer skates where not yet (advertised) to be bakeable... and it worked.
