Nike Apollo OPS

Recommended Posts

I have been using this stick for well over a year now and i definitely like it more than my vector. If you can get over the color combination (aka "The Creamsicle") then you will probably like it.

Thanks for the fast reply. One thing they didn't touch on and that was the durability of the stick. What are the common problems with the apollo?

My LHS store is selling these for dirt cheap (79.99us) and it's really tempting to go for one right now!

of course they're tapered, the shaft alone isnt

Why would you say that? Nike has labelled it as having 'low kick' tecknology but the OPS isn't tapered. It might have some sort of flex differential within the shaft but it's completely straight from top to bottom.

No kidding. Maybe thicker shaft walls? It is 490 grams. I remember I was going to get one until I noticed the lack of the taper. I grabbed a synergy to compare and the synergy had a noticeable taper while the apollo was nice and uniform from the buttend to the blade.

i know exactly what you mean, the hosel is ginormous, i thought the same, but ive cut at least 2 apollos and a quest 1, and turned them into tapereds, theyre great, little heavy though

Is the hosel of the blade smaller than the size of the shaft? I'm thinking maybe the blade tenon will fit into the shaft but the walls are thicker than the blade hosel.

Well buzz fitted several cut shafts with tapered blades but I didn't see a taper at all when I was at Cyclone. Either way, a high end OPS like the apollo is a great deal for $80 if you can get the flex and pattern that you like.

I held up my Apollo to my Inno OPS, and they look about the same. They all seem to have a more abrupt taper. TPS and Easton OPS seem to have a more gradual or spread out taper.

As far as performance goes, I love my Apollo. It is a little heavy than other OPS, but the feel and kick are great to me.

I thought it was a great idea when I saw the price, too. Then, after I got one, about a month later, I snapped it right down the middle. Also, it seemed like every time I took a weak slash, a huge gash appeared. So short and sweet, I wouldn't buy one even if the price seems convincing.
