Hespeler

Recommended Posts

Hey. I was wondering what happened of Hespeler? I can't find or access their website, they aren't mentioned in the 2005 catalogue reviews, and can't be found on the blade pattern or flex rating charts? Sorry if this is an old topic.

I'm trying to get some info and feedback on the Hespeler Patriot, but having some trouble.

Thanks

Odd.... it was up within the last month (as I recall going to their site and seeing some new skate they are about to release). Maybe they're refreshing their site or something?

they were bought by huffy.

Correct, Huffy bought gen-x sports who owned Hespeler. Huffy then had major problems with debt and was looking to sell off divisions or even the whole company. They had several significant offers while the company was still in operation yet they closed down the company anyway. Once Hespeler was shut down, they sold off the name and remaining inventory to Forzani, the owners of Sportchek and other stores. For the most part, Hespeler doesn't really exist anymore.

That would explain why those Hespeler blades showed up all of a sudden on the sport mart site. Good thing I bought some while I had the chance.

Its a very long story :( Chadd summorized it very well. Huffy let the website die, and there was no product line or catalog for 2005. I suspect the Hespeler name will be in stores in the future. If I hear more I'll report.

As for Patriot info, what did you want to know. I'm sure I'll be able to answer it.

For Patriot info I was wondering what flexes (compared to easton) and blade patterns (compared to easton) it was available in. And also a general opinion on its durability, feel ...etc. If you could help that would be great.

For flexes see the flex chart. Use the Innovative column. They are the same(patriot only not other Hespeler OPS's).

The patterns were Roberts, Pro 2, Weight & Pro 4. You should be able to find comparisons by doing a search it has been discussed a number of times.

I would say the durabilty was pretty good. Was on par with most other OPS's.

Flex:

300 is about 80ish

260 is about 90ish

220 is about 105ish

Patterns:

Guerin = Drury

Weight = horrible, useless curve. (see Inno Gonchar)

Feel was good, durability was great. There was no extra zip on my shots that I got from some other ops.

sorry, one more quick question. I saw the blade patterns on google, and I like the Roberts and Pro4, and wondering which one is closer to a Modano?
