Defect in the stealth?

Recommended Posts

getting a dated receipt for a softball bat when its past your warranty is as common as buying a bat...

You can get any type any kind in a matter of one email... some people charge for them some dont... I bet these same people cold get stick receipts as well...

I personally dont agree with it but its done regularly...

Good, I can't wait till companies stop being nice and offering warranties on their sticks. At least it'd lower the prices in theory.

A kid on my team absolutely smashed a kid we were playing against in a tourney this year, (it was a Christmas tourney so his stealth must have been new)and he broke the kid's stealth at the handle. He hit him so hard the kid couldn't make it to the bench. :P Imagine Sami Kapenen(sp?) open ice.

I broke 2 that way in one game and I believe it is the fact that the upper end of the stick is tapered making it just as weak as the bottom can be.

I had the same problem with the Stealth. The second game I played with it on a clearing shot it snapped right below the Easton logo near my top hand.

Since it was under warranty I got it replaced and have played 5 or 6 games with the new one and had no problems.

I have asked around at various hockey stores about the Stick and most say this is the story they seem to hear. If it breaks it happens right away, but the replaement one doesn't seem to have the same problems

OK, searched and didn't quite find an exact (old) thread that fit, so figure this is close enough.

While not a defect per say, has anyone else noticed that the flex in the Stealth seems inconsistant/variable dependent upon where you grip the shaft with your lower hand?

I mean, I know simple physics dictates that it will be somewhat stiffer if you grip way down (as you're exerting force over a shorter distance so do not get as much of the tourque being applied) but even so it seems that it is much stiffer when gripping lower on the shaft (more so than usual) like when you take a slap shot. As opposed to a mid shaft grip on a wrister and it seems whippier.

This might be a good thing, and perhaps by design (I believe this was sort of the (failed) concept behind the Tri-Flex).

BUT.... just curious if anyone else has noticed this behavior or whether I've just been sitting too close to the paint fumes again......

didnt want to start a new topic, but i asked this before and i guess no one knew then or didnt see it or.. anyways has this been happening to the stealth grips?

if you can, wait a few weeks. stealth grips are barely out, if out at all.

I have both a Stealth Grip and non-Grip. I don't notice a difference between either, nor have I had the problem with it breaking near the handle.

SO, I don't think the grip should be any different (short of the paint used) than a non-grip.

If you fear this problem that some seem to have had with the early versions, then you should fear it with the grip. If you think it's been fixed in recent versions, the same likely applies with the grip.

Just my two cents.

the most recent version of the stealth is the stalth grip so if any are going to be fixed it would be them i guess.

I think im just going to wait for the SL to be out fully

has this been heard of happening to the stealth grip too, or is it too early to tell?

No, i broke my grip stealth about 2 months ago up top.

i broke one of my 4 stealths in the red "e" right below the name plate after i fliped the broken stick over and put a blade in, the worst part is that i didnt even get to take a shot with it, i flexed it in the locker room and it snapped.
