Ripped Bauer 8090 boot

Recommended Posts

I played some pickup hockey today and when I came off the ice I noticed this little "flap" hanging off the side of my boot, apparently on my left Bauer 8090 skate right on the inner half of the skate the rubbery material which covers the ankle area was ripped right off leaving this little flap hanging down, under the rubbery material and flap seems to be just regular gray foam. I have no idea how this happened and I don't remember getting slashed in the boot or having someone elses skate blade hit my skate which might have caused this.

I don't want to "flap" to expand anymore ripping off even more of the rubber material and i'm not sure what I can do to fix this. What would you guys recommend... should I just glue the flap back down or what?

Thanks a lot and here are pictures so you can see exactly what i'm talking about and any advice is greatly appreciated.

Wow, I always looked at mine as near indestructible but I guess that isn't the case even though this looks fairly minor. The good thing is you didn't even feel it and that it what I like about my 8090s.

Umm...how long have you been playing hockey? That kind of stuff always happens, if you want your equipment to look like it did the day you bought it, don't use it.

My skates always get stuff like that all around them, it's nothing at all.

This has absolutely nothing to do with looks, do you want a giant chunk of the outer layer of your skate peeling off and exposing a bunch of foam that will get soaked and not repel water like the outer rubber layer does? I think not.

Like I said, the pictures I took are too dark and you can't see how bad it really is... the cut is VERY deep. Either way, I took some superglue and it's fixed.

No...waht I'm saying is that I've had chunks like that come off my skates and nothing has happened. Part of my old skates had a nice chunk missing right around the heel, the plastic was exposed.
