misteremanca 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Hey everyone......You know, one thing about the lockout this year is that I am back playing hockey. Sitting around with some friends earlier this season, talking hockey, we were commenting on how we needed to get out and do something. That led to getting some ice for a pick up session. Which led to another, and quickly led to us putting a rec team together. We found some opponents and regular ice, a sponsor, a tournament, and have gone hockey nuts all season. I am 39, and have not played a competitive season in 17 years prior to this one. Most of the others are in a similar situation. With all of our old gear falling apart, we have pumped some serious money into our lhs.And after all of that, we actually aren't that bad. Most of us played junior at some level, several college and university, a few wjhl vets, but we are finding the hardest part is not getting the legs back but picking up the mental edge. Being old, we are looking for a quick way to get that back. To that end, we were sitting in the dressing room last week wondering about adult camps and/or clinics this summer to get a jump on next season. I have heard of some adult/child camps, but a quick search of the 'net did not turn up too much. Searched here, saw the Panthers fantasy camp (cool, but not what we are looking for), but nothing else really hit home. How about the collective knowledge of the MSH members? Know of anything? Let us say location is not an issue.......old guys have access to money......Cheerseman

chippa13 1844 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 The only adult camps I've ever heard of are for adults just picking up the game. I don't think you'll find any camps that provide the kind of skill and hockey sense training you're looking for.

awall 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 Worst case scenario you could see about putting toghether your own camp. Try to contact some of the NHL players through their agents or some such and see what it might take to put your own camp toghether. Its not like they're really doing anything right now anyhow. You could try to get in touch with someone who already runs a camp somewhere else and see if they migh be willing to help you. misteremanca 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2005 That's what I'm talking about.....Thanks folks!!!! A couple of those links were exactly what I was looking for but could not find.I especially like the weekend warrior camp and the idea about setting up our own camp.As a matter of fact, I am going to look into the latter. My brother runs a camp for kids near here. Last summer he had Byran Trottier, Bob Bourne, Bill Nystrom, Gary Nylund and others instructing at it. I might see if we could market an adult camp. And then let me in for free.....just 'cause I like getting a deal! Thanks again guys!eman
