Shaft/Blade Problem

Recommended Posts

I just bought a Vapor X shaft with a Vapor X blade. I went to put the blade in and it absolutely will not go in. The first time I tried to put it in, all of the glue scraped off on the way in so I completely took off all of the glue and just put a strip of tape on it. When I tried to put it in with the strip of tape, the tape peeled off and wouldn't fit in. I just can't get it in for some reason. Anyone have any advice?

Did you heat the shaft and melt the glue on the tenon before trying to slide it in? Also, if it was going to be a snug fit with only glue then it will be harder for it to slide in with tape on it.

Yeah I had the same problem last week trying to get a Si-Core blade into a Rubber. Turns out there was way to much glue on the Si-core. So I put a ton of heat on the thing scraped all the glue off, and put a ton of heat on the bottom 4 inches of the shaft so it expanded alittle more. Then slid the glueless blade in just a tiny bit and then put my glue on the blade. Worked fine.

o0o yeah putting tape on the shaft will only make it harder to fit it in.

No. The side of the shaft scraped off the glue and I couldn't get it in.

It's not a problem if some of the glue comes off on the shaft when you're inserting the tenon. As long as the tenon slides in and there is a snug fit then you will be fine. If after it cools, you flex the stick and here a cracking sound then you will need more glue, otherwise, you will be fine.
