Torn on Pants

My LHS has 9800 franklin pants and 9805 franklin girdles retailing for 60 and 70 respectively. I was wondering what the quality of the 9800 pants are, because I've heard good things.

Also, has anyone used the franklin girdle? I'm sort of interested in getting one, but I don't know how the protection of the franklin matches up to the bauer vapor 8 or the CCM ones. I play at a pretty high level, and my Bauer 6000 pants didn't cut it this season. Can anyone help me out and tell me if these pants are protective enough to wear? I can go and try them on to see protection, but I would also like some advice before I think about what to get.

If the 6000s weren't protective enough, I'd avoid any girdle.

I currently use the Franklin 9805 girdle and the CCM Tacks girdle. I think that the Franklin brock foams seem a little more shock absorbant to me. The only problem with the Franklin is that it has no padding on the inner thigh/leg.

Try to find a pro shell instead of a regular one through ebay. A pro shell's padding+girdle should be more than sufficient for any level of play.

Yeah I realize this is a few days old, but I have the 9800 pant. I picked them up for $30 on eBay, and for the price they're good. My one problem with them is the pad that goes right over the tailbone. It is pretty damn uncomfortable when you sit down on it while getting dressed or on the bench. Other than that they have pretty good protection and they fit me pretty well.

With CCM's new "pro girdle" out or perhaps a special order on the Jofa girdle, do people still recomend I pick up the franklin girdle? Or should I look into getting something from bauer, CCM, Jofa, or easton?
