Human Zamboni 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 Hi all, I was wondering how the Mission S300s fit in terms of foot shape. My foot is 11-1/8" long, 4" wide at the ball, around 3-1/4" at the toes and 2-1/2" at the heel. Is this a skate that may fit my foot? My LHS are basically out of skates and they don't carry Mission's at all. I currently have a pair of Nike V-10's in a 9 1/2 and feel they are too wide and a touch too long for my foot. Any other skate that my fit my foot? I have tried the CCM's (652) and did not like them. I am 5'-11" 175 pounds and my ability level is quickly improving beginning rec league. Wow, the amount of information I have supplied is border line creepy! Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, I'm old (39)!
Justin 1933 134 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 I am guessing you around an 11 shoe? Let me know you shoe size...I believe you would be around a 10 or 10.5 Mission
Chadd 916 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 If you skate without socks, you can probably get away with a 10, but your toes will be tight to the toecap. With socks you will probably need a 10.5.
Human Zamboni 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 Yep, I wear a size 11 shoe. I hear people talk about wide feet vs. narrow feet and I don't exactly know where that dividing line is. As I mentioned, my foot at the ball (the widest point of my foot) is 4 1/2", so do I have a wide foot or not? Could I wear an Easton skate or will Mission's fit width wise? Without a well stocked LHS (brands and sizes) in my area, I don't have the opportunity to try on a bunch of different skates. Hope that makes sense.

In fact, I had an S300 on my foot when I posted earlier. I don't think an Easton skate in a D width would fit you, they never fit my foot.Generally, if you can wear a D width in most brands, you are considered to have a "normal" foot. If you need a wider skate(E, EE), then you have a "wide" foot.
Human Zamboni 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 Chadd, did the S300 fit you well? This is the skate I am really interested in but will have to order on line because no one around my area carries Mission anything. Will that particular skate also give an improving rec leaguer room to grow as far as skates go? It's really weird in that I have not been skating all that long but already have developed preferences in my equipment, and a big one is I like plastic toe caps as opposed to cloth covered ones. Like I said, in the 10 my toes were very tight to the cap without socks. They didn't fit with socks on. My 500s did end up breaking in a bit larger, not sure how the 300 will respond over time. I will ask this weekend. One of the guys on my team plays four nights a week at a fairly decent level and has been wearing them for a couple of months with no issues at all. Factor in that his are junior size and it's pretty impressive. He's been raving about the skates and I probably owe him a commission as a couple of other people are now asking about them. Human Zamboni 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 Thanks Chadd, unless I hear otherwise I think I will go with the 10.5. Are they "game fit ready" or is there a long break-in period. I've probably been spoiled with my V-10's.

I've probably been spoiled with my V-10's. I always tell people to skate in them first and see if they need to be baked. I've only had to bake a few pair of Mission skates, most of them were people who knew they wanted their skates baked before they ever tried them on.

jeffw 1 Report post Posted March 31, 2005 If he's 4" at the ball the the E oughta fit OK then. I'm thinking 10.5 E for him.

Human Zamboni 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Thanks everyone for their input, it is greatly appreciated. I am going to order the Mission S300 in a size 10.5 E width! Just wanted to share...
Human Zamboni 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Um, one last question for the skate guys... The fit tool at Epuck says for an 11 shoe I should order a size 11 Mission skate. I followed the guide when I ordered my V-10s and they ended up too big. The great advice I got on here was to go with the 10.5. Just triple checking... JR Boucicaut 3810 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 Yeah, go 1/2 size down. I used to go a full size but I got skates ordered in different sizes coming as my right foot is bigger than my left. Before, I would just go up the 1/2 size.

My foot dimensions are within 1/8" of yours and I was trying on the skates in my shop when I posted earlier. You will be fine with the 10.5E S300s.
duckjob 1 Report post Posted April 1, 2005 I went 1/2 size down, and an E width because I've got thick deep feet. The s500's fit like a champ. I seriously don't miss a chance the pimp these skates, they are that good.

What are the differences between the S300, S400 and the S500 other than the price?Thinking of getting the S400 but if there is not much of a difference then I am thinking of getting the S300. If you can afford it, I would go with the s400's. Its an exceptional skate for the price. There are more differencees and performance gains with the 400's of the 300's than there are with the 500's over the 400's, and the price gap is less.Brian

More decisions... I even understood what JR meant about light skates coming out in 2005(Mission 2005 Catalogue review). The L7's are 100g's lighter than the S500. WoW! Would the L7's be on par with the Bauer XXX and Vector Pro's now?
