A standard shaft is just like it's always been. A constant thickness all the way down the shaft. If you look at a tapered shaft like a synthesis the width of the shaft tapers down towards the end, it gets narrower as you go down. This is supposed to move the flex point lower in the stick to give you a harder, more accurate shot, like a one piece stick is supposed to. The tapered blades are simply a blade with a thinner and shorter hosel (the hosel is the piece that fits inside the shaft) so that it will fit the thinner blade. Hope that helps.

Anyone know where to get a Easton synthesis in 85 flex tapered???

Try to search the Sell section.

Also for refrence

Tapered: Synthesis (like mentioned)

Standard: Ultra Lite

The Z-bubble, now thats a tricky bastard, it's a shaft, that tapers OUT rather than in, and accepts standard blades.

I'd rephrase that...you can't taper outward...it tapers then flares out. Flyweight Metamorphic does the same thing due to the shape.

As does the cyclone if I'm not mistaken
