You could put a tapered blade in it if you add a but load of tape to the tennon.....Ive done it a few times, but it really downs the feel

By the same logic you could use a junior blade in a senior shaft.

So like (dont laugh) the tennon on a tapered blade is 'slimer' than a tennon on a standard? if so how come you can put a standard blade in a tapered shaft?

You can't put a standard blade in a tapered shaft unless you put it in the butt end. Doing that is just about pointless unless you can't find a tapered blade.
