    CCM Supertacks Skates fit

Hey Guys So I made a post before about a pair of 1S skates I had which I have now sold and just bought a pair of Supertacks. To give a little information before, I had a pair of One95's that I bought on consignment at Pro Skate in Edmonton, AB and really liked them, but they've become too soft and I'm a bigger guy at 5'10, 245 pounds (and trying to lose!!!) so I wasn't getting the response I wanted anymore. I bought the 1S', didn't fit well and were so stiff I got no forward flex which made skating in them extremely tiring. So I got these Supertacks on Saturday in Salt Lake City while I'm living in Idaho Falls, Idaho (pathetic I need to drive 3 hours just to try on skates). I wasn't planning on buying but they had 200$ off and CCM has a 30 day warranty if I don't like them, I can return them so I figured why not. After my first skate last night I have to say, that was the least painful first skate I've ever experienced! Very comfortable for a first skate... Better than after owning the 1S' for 2-3 months! Only thing that was weird for me were the edges on the skates. On my older Bauers, it felt like I was skating on rails as in I had no issue going straight or doing sharp turns as long as I dug my feet into the ice with the downside of less edge control. Last night was my first night and I had a game (probably not the best time to test them out). These Supertacks seem to be the opposite way. When I'm skating straight, I feel like my steel is digging into the ice like a stop which is slowing me down from accelerating. I also felt like I couldn't turn as sharply from when I took a turn with the puck and it ended up in a bad turnover. Also last night I seemed to be taking a large number of passes to my skates (the hockey in Idaho Falls isn't very good) and had no chance of controlling it to my stick. I also was skating backwards and as I was accepting a pass and transitioning to go forwards I stumbled pretty hard and lost control. I also went to the locker room after and noticed that the skates could have been tighter by pushing my fingers into where the eyelets are. My #1 priority is comfort (I'm not going to the show and just want to have fun) which these were great for, but the feeling of the edges scraping all the time is bugging me. I would retighten the skates every now and then and it would fix them now and then. I also have those damn CCM laces which were loosening my skates left and right because I forgot to buy wax laces for them (ordered a pair on amazon which will get here Wednesday). Could this come from the laces not being tight enough? Are there any factors to make your skates have more like my Bauers in how they ride? Do people even enjoy having their skates scrape like that and want that intentionally or is this something everyone avoids? Any tips would be appreciated and I'm sorry if I didn't explain this well because I found it tough to explain.
  3. I'm hearing the pro stock Warrior Covert QRL pants might run larger, but I'm also hearing they actually might fit smaller than the retail. At 5'9" 155-160lbs... 32" waist 30" inseam. Anyone have any recent experience with this pro stock model? Opinion on whether I ought to go medium, or small, or small +1, perhaps, in these pants? Cheers.
  4. Hi there! Hope you can help me with the correct shoulder pad sizing. I can have these Bauer Supreme One.8 shoulder pads at a really sweet price. They are sized Large (5). I am 6'1", 170-180 lbs, chest size is 39 1/2". So technically i fit somewhere in between sizes Medium and Large, according to Bauer shoulder pad sizing guide. I don't have any local hockey stores nearby so all i can try on is these Large One.8's. Lengthwise, they meet my size Large girdle just right at the spine area, and cover my ribs at the front nicely. As for width, i stretch velcro straps to their maximum position to sit firmly on my chest. One thing i don't quite get is if the shoulder caps are sitting right? I will be playing in contact league, but the level of play is average. If there are other guys with similar body proportions, please feel free to post which model and size shoulder pads you wear. I took 2 pictures of myself with and without shoulder pads on if it helps.
  5. Hi guys, I am looking to buy the warrior hd1 shins from online. I have felt them in person but never tried them on. And I was told those shin pads run large. Bauer apx2 15 inch fits me perfect in length(shin guards over tongues), should I get the hd1s in size 14? Thank you!
  6. Can anyone help me with Graf Switzerland sizing? I currently skate on 7.5 Regular Graf Canada G7 Ultras and am looking at a pair of Swiss G7's. Would I fit 7.5 Swiss Graf G7's or is the sizing different? Also, does anyone know if Graf Canada will be coming back out with the G7 Ultra or 707 Supra model? Thanks.
  7. New member here, and I couldn't find much information about the sizing of Stevens referee pants. I don't know of a shop in a three-state region which carries decent player gear, much less referee gear, so I'm stuck ordering online. Anyway, I'm a 30" waist, 5'8", and ordered the Stevens pro pant with built-in padding in size M. They are way too big (falling off me at the waist, as well as the thigh padding is too far down the legs, protecting my knees instead of thighs.) I'm going to return them for the Stevens shell pants and a girdle underneath, as I don't like the padding arrangement anyway. Are the shell pants sized just as large as the padded pants? Too bad they don't make the Combat 300 pants anymore, those were the best...
  8. I just got a pair of (old) brand new nike bauer supreme one95 skates. I have been searching for these for a while now and finally found a great pair. Anyways, I have been in a 9.5D forever, and always had this issue but it seems even more present in these skates. My left fits perfect, toes gently touching the caps when standing, and slightly pull back when knees bent. However, my right foot is nearly a half size smaller. Since custom sizing just isn't in the budget, anyone know any remedies to this? Still haven't gotten the skates baked, but I doubt that will do too much. Only thing I could think of would be larger than stock footbeds, such as superfeet. Anyone have experience with this issue or ideas for remedies?

Easton Z air Vs S17 skates

Best fitting skates I have had are Easton Zair comp 03, or 04, not sure the year, Silver and black, I believe they were made in canada, 8d. When easton switched to the synergy China made skates did the sizing stay the same? Specifically the s17 would I still be the same size? Would you guys say that the boot will be comparable in stiffness? I know the s17s are probably only 2/3 the weight, what other things are different about the skates? Probably not the quality, it is suspect with such a big weight reduction. Thanks
  10. Just got home a pair of Easton EQ50 pants, couldn't try them on before I bought them though, so had to just ask the seller for info about sizing. I used to wear a pair of CCM Vector 04 pants in like XL, now I bought a pair of XS (yeah, tummy gotten smaller over the years :P). My main concern is that they are too short in all the different stances. The seller told me that it's not any difference in the length between S and XS, so I just took a chance and order a pair of XS. Before I bought my old CCM 04's I tried on the 08 too, but I found them too be too bulky. Theese EQ50 feels nice for an "ex top of the line" pant. They fit snug arund, but they feel kinda like they're, well, either I'm just too tall with my 5''8 (lol) or they're just made to sit very high up on you? If I pull them up I can't I usually wear my old (and quite big nowdays...) pants kinda low, so the main question: If I go up a size, how much/would the legs get longer? Anyone sitting on an old pair of EQ50 pants in S or M? I mean... they fit damn good over my ass , but the legs is kinda too short and the core part is so damn long. So far I like them other than the weird fit, I mean, nice pant that doesn't feel that bulky. But yeah, can't compare to my old CCM04, that's freedom
