Bauer Pro Series Shins

Recommended Posts

I searched, but I can't find much information on the Bauer Pro Series Shin pads. Anyone have any experience with these, how they compare to rbk's? I've needed new shins for quite some time, but I don't like the feel of the rbk's when I try them on.

I purchased a pair a while back because they were the only ones I could find in 18". A little narrow at the bottom which I'm not a fan of but they fit well and are really comfortable out of the box.

I don't like Reebok shins, especially the sling-type shins, my main issue is the length. Bauer shins are slightly longer and the Pro series is virtually identical to the RBK/Jofa shin in protection but the calf wrap is more comfortable, in my opinion.

I just ordered a pair - 15 inches, should arrive next week. If you like, I will let you know how they are once I skate in them. Check out Ice Warehouse's website. There is a product video associated with this particular shin pad that gives a good bit of information on protection and fit.

I too also had the RBK's at one time, I beleive they were the 5k's ...not thrilled with them either.

Good luck

Do you have the newer style Bauer Pro's, or the older Pro Defender's? I was looking into buying a set, but hadn't heard anything about them. They look like a nice, no frills pad. I was curious to hear about the quality and fit of them, and if they taper down at the bottom or not. The picture on HM makes it look like they do, but they can be deceiving sometimes.

He has lightspeeds. I think the current pro series is just the old lightspeed stuff

Like BJB said I have the Lightspeeds, which are the NBH version of the Bauer Pros. I'm pretty sure they have the same shell. They do taper at the bottom a bit. I didn't like the lack of calf protection and that lower strap on the defenders.

Southpaw59er, please do let me know how they work out for you. You ordered 15", how tall are you?

I am 5' 10" I currently wear Mission Fuel 90's - 14 inches. Nice pad but I play defense and tend to block a lot of shots..too many of which I feel! Looking for something a bit higher end with more protection and one inch longer as I would like to wear the shin pad over the tongue.

Looking at getting these shins but have a.few questions. Having recently had knee surgery I wear a brace (soft sleeve/straps but metal hinge and sides). Currently have supreme one70 shins from a few years ago, but the problem is the brace doesn't fully fit in there. Its just not quite wide enough at the top. I had to remove the liner in order to be able to fit in at all. Would the pro series be a lil wider at the top? Deeper is good, and i do have big calves as is. Right at the hinge where the shin and knee cap (and cap in general) meet is too narrow and thus creating the problem. No option to try them on here, so just looking for any input or if anyone else wears a brace with these?

You're in luck, I happen to own both the One70s and the Pro Defenders. I don't know if they are identical but if so, I can give you my input. First of all, the One70s are garbage, just like the rest of the One70/75 stuff. The Defenders are a lot like my old Jofa 8060s, but without any kind of calf protection (no idea why not). But they are wider overall and don't taper as much at the bottom. I can measure the opening or can take a picture of the two next to each other if you want.

a measurement at the widest part or even pics would be great! wider is definitely better as the 70's always felt a bit shallow especially since i have bigger legs. thanks!

btw, the pro series is basically the updated version of the lightspeed pro shins as stated above, not the pro defender. now, between the lightspeed and pro defender, i have no idea what the fit differences are.

imo, the knee area on the pro series are a bit on the narrow side even though the rest of the shin seems to fit pretty wide. easily narrower in the knee cap than any of the current reebok or ccm shins from what i've tried on.
