Proud to be a Finn today! What a thriller...

ok, so i'm a few day late on this one, but with work being not that much fun today i thought of something that was to get me through the day. 90 minutes of family hockey on New Years Day with my 8yo in his Toews jersey & 5yo in his Jagr *Rangers* jersey. learning the game and having a ton of fun. they say "what you do on NYD you do all year" i can think of no better way to spend the coming year. and YES, they still suck. but after the game ended and there was 10 mins of free time, i gave my 8yo the choice of getting changed or staying out. he chose staying out.

A bunch of girls on our 14U team have discovered backyard and pond hockey. As a coach, and a parent, this thrills me to no end. Unstructured play is the best. No longer the provenance of boys, they are out playing just for the joy of playing....and a couple of them are learning some really dirty dangles!!!

The nice thing about loctite is that you don't have to worry about them coming too lose and you don't have to really crank them tight. I probably have half a dozen Mission and Easton Robertson #2 screwdrivers. Worst case, they're only $5 or so for decent brand name ones.

Ice finally froze on my ODR today so I'm finally going to get out on the ice with my gear today. Temps are supposed to soar again tonight so I'll only have the ice for the day. This goofy el nino year is really messing up my extra ice time this year Currently having my helmet painted and I should have it back by the end of the week. Can't wait to see the final product of that. I'm thinking of getting some knee guards pretty soon too and I'm really looking at the Warrior Ritual X. When I bought my leg pads they ended up being slightly small on me but the discount I got on them was so worth it that I was thinking of just modding the knee cradle a bit but the knee guards don't seem like a bad idea at this point (better to have too much protection instead of not enough). Would a senior knee guard fit into an intermediate leg pads cradle or would it be too tight of a fit?
