Worst part about it is that there is no ruling in the USAH rulebook about how it is supposed to be worn, other than "as designed". Try proving "as designed". I want the USA rulebook to implement verbiage about the cage that the chin guard needs to be touching the chin, the top of the cage needs to be all the way in the J-Hooks, J-hooks are necessary (a design and IIRC a requirement for HECC, but again, try proving it), and that there is to be no slack in the straps - i.e. you can't swing the cage back and forth. As a referee, it is something I would really like to have in the book defined clearly. Not sure if HC is different.

BTW for those talking about the cross grind rings, they did sent out an addendum to the manual and also printed new manuals for future shipments. They also sent out free filters to existing customers. I have no problem with the lack of a cross grind ring. For the once every couple years I might find the desire to cross grind, I can hit up the LHS. Just like I cant profile, I also cant cross grind. Really not a big deal.

Do you have a good edge checker? The alignment tool is decent, but most users have found that even after using the alignment tool, a good edge checker is required to exactly dial the alignment in such that you get perfectly level edges. Once you get steel sharpened on the Sparx to a particular ring/hollow, it shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 cycles for a maintenance sharpening, I do that all the time. However if one of my kids brings home a teammates skates that were sharpened somewhere else are are very damaged, it takes 4 or more cycles before I'm satisfied to send them out the door. In either case, I always use my edge checker to verify I'm cutting perfectly level edges, and if I'm concerned about the hollow I'll use the marker test. colins

Or keep it and use it the same as you would a cross grind ring (ie: taking steel down to eliminate sidewall nicks or badly damaged edges). Or for cutting new steel which requires 8-10 passes. It'll help save the lifespan of your usual ring. colins

For some people. Especially NHL guys. Not for a junior player who's on the ice 5 times a week with the same $200 stick his parents bought. I don't want it to get all chipped up. We tape often.

I’m not a huge fan. It almost feels like Lefebvre’s designs were the entire reason CCM was so far behind the curve on goalie gear. Even Vaughn had surpassed them in tech innovation and they tend to be as “classic” as they come. That said, I almost wonder if CCM will actually be stepping up their innovation game, now.

Come on guys 😉 RFID is the process by which items are uniquely identified using radio waves, and NFC is a specialized subset within the family of RFID technology. Specifically, NFC is a branch of High-Frequency (HF) RFID, and both operate at the 13.56 MHz frequency.
