They need to update the CCM app. ASV-Pro Custom and Custom Plus are available already. I just did a pair for a customer in gunmetal.

Awesome. Thank you my friend. I will let the store know.

Update: The store owner just got back to me where he copied an email from the local CCM rep. The app update is not available yet. No ETA. I'm going crazy here.

  2. I just went to my LHS to get scanned for a pair of ASV-Pro Custom+ skates. I has previously ordered AS3 Pro skates, but they were unable to produce them due to supply shortages. I told them to keep the money and I would put it towards the new model when it came out. The new model has been out for over a month and I was told to come in for my fitting. When I got to the store they said they could only do AS3 or FT4 customs and they had no timeline for when the ASV customs would be available. This is ridiculous and a major failing on CCMs part. What is going on?

    My source? I own a store. http://penaltyboxhockey.com

The closest you can get similar lasts between models is if you go full custom. Even then the last will have subtle differences since the boots are made from different materials and have different design elements, symmetrical vs asymmetrical, for example.

Thanks @PBH, much appreciated. This will help me make a more informed decision on my next pair of wheels. I'm surprised that they don't use carbon fiber on the top Jetspeed model.

You can get reinforced Jetspeed skates but it does not change the structural composition of the boot.

Not saying I don't trust you because that was what I was thinking was probably the case, but how do you know this? What is your source?

Also, would it be possible to essentially duplicate the Jetspeed shape (last) on a Tacks boot? I found my custom Jetspeeds were lower volume in the heel/ankle/Achilles area and I like that.

  5. I was just looking through the newest CCM catalog and noticed that the material used for the shells of the FT4 Pro and 100K skates (Reinforced Fiberglass Material) are different than the material for the AS3 Pro's (Carbon Composite). I have had custom FT1s and AS1s for my last two pairs of skates and an trying to figure out what is next for me. I preferred the fit profile of the Jetspeeds, but I definitely like the construction and stiffness of the Tacks better. I was told that you can get the Jetspeeds with a Tacks stiffness (215). I'm wondering if you can get the Jetspeeds made with the same carbon composite material though or if it's just a stiffer RFM composite. Does anyone have the insider info on that?

If you don't mind spending a little extra go for True Pro Custom Inline skates! You won't find a better fit

I don't mind spending big money on my ice skates (I have total custom AS1s), but I'm not as into roller hockey. Really looking for something mid-range to train with off-ice during this COVID-19 situation. I pulled the trigger on some Bauer Vapor XR600 skates. They arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to give them a go. It's been a few years since I've been on inlines.

  7. I personally love the crisp, precise feel of composite. I wouldn't for a second think of going back to a wood blade that will get soggy and split after several ice times. I think if you adjust to the feel of composite and have good hands that they will only become better with composite because it is lighter and has a more direct, precise feel. Enough about how wood sticks have good feel. That's so early 2000's.

How do sticks with no reviews and that no one has held in their hand, let alone played with “seem nice” and “look like a deal?”

I figured someone might call me out on that. I watched the video of Zac Bell from Always Hockey using one and the Christian Hanson one from their site. Plus, the weights are very light. I like light sticks. There's almost nothing lighter than the X1X other than the Vapor ADV and the Fantom. I am impressed by that. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger. If they are even as good as the Sher-wood Rekker line (which I think are currently the best bang for buck) then they are a good deal. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Wrap. And the stick is garbage. Stores still have them on the rack.

Are you sure it's garbage? Have you tried one? It's not like it has been out for a long time. I agree with the others that the price is ridiculous, but based on Bauer's other high end products, I bet it's a pretty good stick.
