  1. I'm not surprised. Okay, thanks.
  2. Awesome. Thank you my friend. I will let the store know. Update: The store owner just got back to me where he copied an email from the local CCM rep. The app update is not available yet. No ETA. I'm going crazy here.
  3. Awesome. Thank you my friend. I will let the store know.
  4. I just went to my LHS to get scanned for a pair of ASV-Pro Custom+ skates. I has previously ordered AS3 Pro skates, but they were unable to produce them due to supply shortages. I told them to keep the money and I would put it towards the new model when it came out. The new model has been out for over a month and I was told to come in for my fitting. When I got to the store they said they could only do AS3 or FT4 customs and they had no timeline for when the ASV customs would be available. This is ridiculous and a major failing on CCMs part. What is going on?
  5. Found some. The blue and silver AS5-Pro's were the ones I was looking for. The skate game is strong with this one.
  6. Very funny (as a Habs fan especially), but not what I'm looking for.
  7. Anybody have any photos of Matthews custom AS5-Pro's?
  8. I really don't think it's the steel. Probably profile and/or sharpening. I've used many types of steel and Step Black is my go to. They are as good as pretty much anything.
  9. Thanks @PBH, much appreciated. This will help me make a more informed decision on my next pair of wheels. I'm surprised that they don't use carbon fiber on the top Jetspeed model.
  10. Not saying I don't trust you because that was what I was thinking was probably the case, but how do you know this? What is your source? Also, would it be possible to essentially duplicate the Jetspeed shape (last) on a Tacks boot? I found my custom Jetspeeds were lower volume in the heel/ankle/Achilles area and I like that.
  11. That's exactly what I'm trying to find out. I may have to contact the rep that took care of my last customs. He did tell me that Jetspeeds could be made as stiff, but I'm not sure how.
  12. I was just looking through the newest CCM catalog and noticed that the material used for the shells of the FT4 Pro and 100K skates (Reinforced Fiberglass Material) are different than the material for the AS3 Pro's (Carbon Composite). I have had custom FT1s and AS1s for my last two pairs of skates and an trying to figure out what is next for me. I preferred the fit profile of the Jetspeeds, but I definitely like the construction and stiffness of the Tacks better. I was told that you can get the Jetspeeds with a Tacks stiffness (215). I'm wondering if you can get the Jetspeeds made with the same carbon composite material though or if it's just a stiffer RFM composite. Does anyone have the insider info on that?
  13. I love core shorts. I personally like wearing mine with an old fashioned shock doctor jock (on top) and a garter belt. I find it works better that way. Core shorts are supposed to be very tight. I think wearing jock shorts under them would be terrible uncomfortable. Over maybe, but not under.
  14. Are you sure it's garbage? Have you tried one? It's not like it has been out for a long time. I agree with the others that the price is ridiculous, but based on Bauer's other high end products, I bet it's a pretty good stick.
  15. I wonder if we will see many pros using the sticks with that Supreme ADV taper.
  16. I was speaking in general. Bauer has those widths and more. I'm not sure what is currently available for CCM. I only know that when I ordered my FT1 customs a a couple years ago, they had C/AA, D/A and E/A options.
  17. D and C aren't heel widths. AAA/AA/A/B are heel widths. A standard boot is D/A. D in the forefoot and A in the heel. I'm pretty sure CCM can make a AA heel because it was an option on my custom FT1's and I was told they are C/AA. They are pretty narrow.
  18. They are both one piece boots. He basically says that.
  19. Yeah, he fell over tonight on the first Matthews goal for seemingly no reason.
  20. Back on topic... I have posted about this before, but I don't think anyone really chimed in... How are people liking the True holders? Has anyone skated in the True/VH skates with both the new holder and another like a Bauer or CCM? What is the pitch like on the True holder? Does it feel like a Tuuk, pitch wise?
  21. I'm also curious to hear if anyone has tried both Tuuk and the Step/VH holders on the True/VH skates. A comparison would be great.
  22. Very nice, Amiroo. Great choice on the steel. Those look like pro stock seats too. Beautiful!
  23. I'm only going by what he told me. He said it was hard to clamp. I believe he was referring to the holder plastic somehow contacting the clamp or gettting in the way somehow. Kind of like it used to with those carbon fiber easton holders back in the day. I used to sharpen and profile with him at the shop and I am very well educated on things like pitch, radius, hollow, etc. I have also heard good things about Max Performance Sport's Pro Sharp Quad radius. I haven't actually tried it myself. I profile my own steel and I still skate on a standard 12' radius that I pitch forward slightly. In my experience with Step Steel in most holders, the pitch is quite consistent and usually comes so that the amount of steel that protrudes from the holder would be slightly taller (say 1/32") in the back of the working radius than it is in the front. You can measure it outside of the holder and find roughly the same result. This is not the case with some steel. LS4 steel would often come taller in the front with a very bulbous toe shape. What my friend was saying about the Step Steel for the VH holder was that it was taller in the front, thus creating a reverse pitch effect. Of course this can be corrected with some reshaping of the blade and all holders are pitched forward, so yes it does counteract that effect. I just feel like steel should always come neutral or forward pitched slightly because the majority of skaters like it that way. I don't personally know anyone that likes to skate on a reverse pitched blade. It seems a bit strange that the steel would be different in the VH holder than the other Step steel made for other holders. I don't have any pictures. I will talk to my friend again and get a more detailed explanation. By the way, I totally agree with your racecar analogy. That's the approach I take with my own skates.
  24. All I can say was that he said they have a difficult time clamping them in to sharpen and that compared to Bauer or CCM versions of the Step Steel, the Step made for the VH holder is taller in the front of the blade creating a reverse pitch.
  25. Where did you get that information? I know the Step name was on the original holders, but my old boss talked to the owner of Step and he said that he had no input into the design of the holder. Seems weird that they would manufacture something and put there name on it if they had no input into the product. My friend who sharpens at a LHS said that they are very hard to clamp in for sharpening and he said the Step steel that fits in them is always reverse pitched. I feel like they could have done a better job with these holders and steel.
