    Dear enlightened members of MSH, I am in the process of getting new skates and would like some info/opinions. Mostly officiating at this point so comfort and durability are my top priorities. Usually on the ice around 40-60 hours per week but I’m meticulous about skate upkeep and tend to get a lot of life outta my skates. For those of you that have used True/VH for an extended period of time, how have the skates held up? My LHS told me that True offers one freebie fix/tweak. Beyond that, how difficult/ expensive is it to have the skates worked on by True? How does Bauer handle issues if something is off about the skate/ tweaks need to be made? Anything I should know/ keep in mind when being fit for either? If anyone has any additional info they think I should have, please let me know.

    For any skate mods I’d recommend Blades by Todd(Only their North Richland Hills shop is open at the moment). As an official, they’re the only shop I’ll let touch my skates and that goes for a vast amount of officials/ players here including some current and former Stars. They’re not a huge chain store, but they’re incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. For the True scan, you can go to Pure or Monkey, but I’ve personally gotten more in-depth info and fitting at Pure.     MX3s. I’ve been in Supremes since 2012. The rivet issue was/is definitely a part of it as the pain in the left foot was nearly gone once I got copper installed.

    Just had a 4 game set tonight. Had the 2 rivets in that general area replaced with copper which helped, but by the end of the night, the pain was just as bad as usual. Podiatrist may be only option at this point.

    I’ve been in these skates (stock MX3s) for two years without issue so no change. You and Larry may be onto something with what’s going on under that area in the skate.

    So I’m not entirely sure that the pain I’m getting is in the sesamoid bones, but it’s severe. Here’s the general area: https://imgur.com/a/EpgPL This began about a month ago. I just started reffing and do about four games a weekend. I was using Superfeet Yellow and just recently switched to Shock Doctor Active Ultra. The switch hasn’t really helped. Has anyone else experienced severe pain here? Any suggestions about solutions?

    If anyone is looking for a brand new pair of Mako IIs in size 10EE, I just sent a pair back to a shop in MN called Dave’s Sport Shop.

    Sucks. The fact that I found them in my size (10 EE) was an online shopping miracle. Back to the drawing board.

    Actually second guessing myself now that I have them and have been wearing them for a few hours. Had the original Mako (a half size too big - 10.5 EE) and loved them until I got Mako bumps and started having severe ankle pain. These are giving me similar issues right out of the box. Totally aware of how these must be molded to be comfortable but I’m not sure if I wanna risk it or return/sell and go back to supremes.

    Don’t watch the Leafs enough to know if this is new for JVR (True skates + STX gloves). Last I remember he was all Bauer.

    Interesting, I have seen a few custom 1Ns without the metallic finish as well. Agreed, it looks great in red regardless.

    I could see them reintroducing the CL line. Especially with Bauer releasing the 1X Lite. Too bad they’re moving away from the white colorways.

    Does it bother anyone else way more than it should that the socks don’t match the forearms? My OCD is not pleased with those setups.
