  1. I exchanged a couple emails with a customer service rep at True. Just added some additional notes.
  2. Krejci in the unnamed Vapor skate: https://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/news-photo/david-krejci-of-the-boston-bruins-skates-with-the-puck-news-photo/1063990488
  3. I’ll be going over them thoroughly. I dropped a g and I expect to get a comfortable skate. My feet are pretty standard so as long as they can address the few minuscule issues I have, I’ll be happy. So far they have been easy to communicate with and I think I’ve gotten my “vision” across to them.
  4. Ordered mine today after stalking these forums for the last few years. I’ll be sure to post pics and a thorough review once they get here. And if I don’t like them, I will be forced to hold all of you personally accountable.
  5. From the other pictures available, it also appears to have a significantly lower, more tapered toe box. The silver heel seems to be cosmetic. Maybe this is a dialed back OD1N project. Speculating szn.
  6. https://www.gettyimages.ca/detail/news-photo/andreas-athanasiou-the-detroit-red-wings-shoots-against-the-news-photo/1054474132 Does Bauer own the rights to Easton skate tech? These look awfully Mako-ish.
  7. Which is thicker/more durable?
  8. Would like to hear your overall impression of the skates so far. Maybe you can speak to the questions I had about the liner holding water moreso than other skates. I doubt there has been much wear in a month, but how have they been holding up?
  9. Don’t you have Step holders? Odd that they would force consumers to use their holder knowing that a majority will replace them.
  10. When you ordered yours, were you told that True stopped accepting boot only orders and thet they would no longer drill holes for other holders?
  11. The custom options currently available through True and Bauer. 3D scan, measurements, limited customization options, etc.
  12. Excuse me if this post is repetitive, I’m just trying to be thorough in my research. I’ve been stalking these forums for a while and I’m ready to pull the trigger on full custom skates. I’ve narrowed it down to Bauer and True. Bauer Bauer seems like the “safe” choice as I’ve worn Supremes (One100/NXG/MX3) for the past 6 years. They fit relatively well despite the size difference in my feet and width of my forefoot. The main con for me is the sloppiness of the boot. I’m an official and I’m starting to do higher level games so comfort is surpassing performance as my top priority. I consider my skates comfortable, but that could just be the fact that I’ve gotten so used to them. The negative space is very noticeable and does, in my opinion, affect my performance. True I used the original Mako for just under a year in between my One100s and NXGs. I had to retire them because the ankle bump issue was getting out of control. I’m familiar with the close to the foot feel and I really enjoyed it. That being said, I’m not concerned about the fit, although I do fear that whoever fits me will makes a mistake/not be thorough enough. My main concern is with the durability. I’ve seen some of the recent pictures of Trues, and they looked like they were thrown together in about 30 minutes. The excess glue in the liner and the “sloppy” look of the liner makes me weary that the interior of the skate has a short lifespan. I also worry that the skate retains more water than the big two which would seem to negatively affect the durability of the liner as well as the rivets. If anyone with personal experience could chip in on either or both I’d greatly appreciate it. Again, apologies for the repetitive post.
  13. What on them looked bad? Purely cosmetic?
  14. My main concern is durability. I’m on the ice anywhere from 40-60 hours a month so that’s a major factor for me.
  15. Looking for some input from officials who use/ have used VH/True skates. Any and all info is welcomed and helpful.
  16. https://imgur.com/a/RF5CpMf Decided to pull the trigger on these since CCM is offering the 90 day return. I’m coming off MX3s in 10EE and I got these in 10EE as well. I can tell they are slightly smaller than my MX3s. 10 hours in (officiating) and I like most everything about them aside from the lace bite. I’ve never experienced lace bite in my life and throughout the course of a three games set last night, I must have tried 6 different lacing patterns to no avail. Other than that, the heel lock is incredible and the skate is unbelievably light and responsive. I’ll see how they work throughout september before deciding between CCM total custom or True.
  17. Totally agree which is why I’ve been trying to gather info on all three in terms of their full custom options. I’m leaning towards True atm. Although I’ve grown used to Supremes, I recognize how “sloppy” they feel and I was a huge fan of the Mako aside from the infamous Mako bump. How have your Trues held up since your last video review? Was the liner an ongoing issue?
  18. I was having a similar issue with the ball of my foot. Turned out my sesamoid was irritated by the rivet. Changed it to copper which is flatter and added a bit of thickness to my footbed and the issue was solved.
  19. Appreciate the info. My last three skates were the NXG, Mako I, and One100. Familiar with the Mako feel and the benefits, but I’ve grown so used to Supremes. My only issue regarding my feet is that the right is almost an entire size longer and that the base of the 5th metatarsal on both feet protrudes. Other than that, Supremes are generally comfortable.
  20. If you don’t mind, could you elaborate shortly on the areas in which you think each brand outshines the others? At this point, I’m torn between all three custom options so I’m gathering all the info I can.
  21. Does that hold true with the boots that have the added protection? Figured they’d maintain stiffness much longer.
  22. An employee at the other LHS said they had a hard time working with True as far as alterations/issues. Also said that the quality control was rapidly declining (probably referring to skates looking sloppy). And this guy was actually pushing True over Bauer/CCM. I get the sense from this forum that they’re fairly easy to work with. In your experience, where do the skates generally start to break down? And I mean in terms of the integrity of the boot/eyelets/liner. Cosmetics aren’t nearly as concerning to me.
  23. For True? If so how long have you had them and how are they holding up?
  24. Can’t remember names to save my life. Was at the PH in Plano, TX.
