  1. Forward flex is great in these, it's not as aggressive as the mako skate so in my case my knees aren't killing me after my games as before with the mako skates. As for the height of the boot it is low cut which i really like I believe Scott told me that they were 5mm shorter that the mako in boot height, but they are plenty stiff which gives you very good support. Sorry I haven't written more my season has been over for a couple weeks and am awaiting the start of the summer league August 4th at which time I will continue to fill everyone in on my experience with VH hockey boots.
  2. Thats the angle that I took the picture from, they are your regular LS2 holders That screw holds the velcro which the tongue attaches to. Very cool idea i love being able to adjust the tongue. The toe cap was made for a growth that i have on my big toe it was bothering me with all of my other skates but Scott really took care of me with his design. Not the prettiest but boy is it ever comfortable.
  3. @ROMDJ I didn't have a problem with drying the boots out. The liners were dry by the morning and i had a late game i do take out the insoles though.
  4. The skate wraps extremely well which makes putting them on a little harder than regular skates but not painful. No pain at all so far and they really do mold extremely well. If you look at my foot and look at the boot you can see every bump even my arch was perfect which I always have arch and volume issues with my skates. Scott really got my foot down even told me what was bothering me with my current skates just by looking at my tracings.
  5. Yes they are step steel absolutely fell in love with that steel a while back when i was skating in my bauer nxg and upgraded to step. The protection was really good took a couple shot off the boot and felt nothing. Weight was phenomenal really light, i have a pair of x60 and mako skates that i held while holding the VH skates in the other hand and these skates are really really light (thats even with the steel). I did get them custom (Scott is really easy to deal with and literally built the skate around my foot from just tracings and a couple measurements) I followed his instructions on the VH Footwear website for the measurements and baking instructions. One thing that I did that i recommend against is baking without the steel, i received the boot with just the holder and baked them right away with out the steel. That made it harder to install the steel after, i ended up heating the holder with a heat gun and installing the steel once the holder was warm (snapped right in)
  6. Here are the some of the pics from my Custom VH hockey boot. I skated yesterday and the were super responsive and supportive. I had been using Easton's Mako skate prior to the VH hockey boot and the wrap and fit is amazing. I'll fill you in on some more of my impression soon.
  7. I just got my custom pair on Friday and my game is tomorrow night. I'll post pics and my initial thoughts on them tomorrow or Thursday the latest. So far they fit like nothing I've ever tried best wrap and comfort. Looking forward to skating in them tomorrow. I want to also thank Scott van horn for doing such a great job on these skates and a true pleasure to work with.
  8. Second that point. I did the same but as soon as i was finished molding them I threw them in the freezer for a few minutes to lock the mold.
  9. Has any one stretched the toe cap on these? I want to know if it can be done.
  10. any news on when the replacement tendon guard will become available?
  11. any news on if Easton will be doing custom orders of the Mako?
  12. Does any one know when replacement tendon guards will become available?
  13. VHFootwear thanks for all the work and we are looking forward to what you have next.
  14. Probably like you said he cranked down on them to make them "stiffer". If he ties them normal he will be fine I have a serious volume issue and have no lace bite.
  15. Just got my pair in today :)!!!!! They bake amazing going to sharpen them and see how they do. Size 7EE in the Mako and a 7D in CCM CL
  16. JR any timeline on when to expect your RBZ skate review?
  17. Any news if the tendon guard will be flexible?
  18. On the RBZ Skate any news on the tendon guard? As to if it will be more flexible or will it be the same as in the CL Skate?
  19. Chadd how's the heel lock on the mako?
  20. You probably confused the part of the re-baking of the left skate when chadd said the right skate had cooled. It might have given that impression but both we baked at the same time.
  21. That's a bit of a problem for me as my lhs refuses to carry Easton skates. I'm probably going to have to travel to get fitted.
  22. I don't have a narrow foot either (definitively not a vapor foot) I have a good fit with my ccm cl but I read that ccm has a wider fitting boot and Easton mako are very narrow, or does baking fix that? Thanks for doing the review been waiting very anxiously
  23. I wonder if Easton will produce baking a fitting videos for the mako. My biggest concern is the volume, although I don't have a wide foot (I wear 7D ccm cl) I hope the the EE will resolve any fit issues.
  24. Chadd how do you feel with the volume?
