learning hockey at an advanced age

+1 for 2 hands on the stick. Keep it on he ice and use it to guide your turn. The line your stick takes you'll take. Bend those knees and explode out of the turn. Great to see you're still keeping up with your training. I wish I had as much ice time as you!! :) -
Hey Guys, We wanted to make sure all of you on the MODSQUADHOCKEY Forum are aware that we have free shipping to the USA and Canada this December. So much of our success and word of mouth has come from you guys and we really appreciate it! Keep the reviews coming, it's a huge help! Cheers!

Here is a more detailed answer from Rob, the man behind the idea! - “Loosen the laces and pull the tongue up and out as far as possible so you can free access to the toe box. Slowly and gently separate the insert from the toe cap by working the thumbnail down the center of the insert (where the adhesive is). The insert will eventually separate from the toe cap and you should be good to add the shim. This is the same process for all brands/models of skate."

Nice, welcome to Team POWERFOOT! Let us know what you think when you get in a few good skates with them.
-
Glad you love the feel! Yes, you should be able to peel it off ... just do it slowly. I have done it a few times myself and you shouldn't have too much of a problem. The nice thing about the shim is that it will completely cover the top so even if it doesn't come off perfectly it will be fine once you add the shim. Let me know how it goes.

Thank you! Glad they're working out for you. Please let us know if we can share your feedback.

Yes, we've been getting some great feedback from goalies. As a goalie you’re not as focused on your stride, however your lateral push is crucial and if you can increase your power with the POWERFOOT that’s a good thing. Also, imagine as you go in and out of the butterfly and move around the crease that your toes are always planted on the bottom of your skate. The added stability and control will be huge. Pair all that with the fact they make your skates feel better and you can see why the goalies review have also been great. Hope that helps.

Have to post this feedback :) "Amazing how something so simple can make such a big difference. Feel like I'm getting the most out of every stride." - Jamie Langenbrunner

Well... you know now!! -
That might be on the tight side, you want to be able to move your toes up about 1/8 of an inch. I assume you haven’t skated in them, right? You’ll find they feel less snug when you're skating with them however, if there’s not enough circulation your toes will start to get cold/numb. If you can wiggle your toes 1/8 inch I say give them a skate and see how they feel. Or, play it safe take the second (thinnest shim) out for the first skate and if you feel you want more you have the option. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions. ** For those of you wondering where the second shim comes in, I’ll explain. Bauer skates have the biggest toe boxes and when you get over a size 10 they require an additional “second” shim to get some players the fit they’re looking for. [A regular SR pack comes with the 2x POWERFOOT and 2x shim for customization. We'll send Bauer 10+ owners- 2x POWERFOOT, 2x reg shim and 2x extra shim ]

Hockey Skate profiling (contouring)
MikeBoyarchuk replied to Blueice's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I'll second this! My skate guy says the same thing... each player will be different and will want different things from their skates [ie speed, stride length, agility etc...] I hadn't contoured my skates in the past a recently did. I can confirm is that the "out of the box" blade is nowhere near where I would like it. It made a huge difference for me and I love it! I wear an 8.5 Bauer and I have a 10 radius with a 7/16 hallow. The next thing I’ll try is flat bottom sharpening.. but we’ll leave that for another thread ;) -
That's great to hear! Word of mouth is everything to us. Have a great weekend and thanks again for the support!
-
This is Awesome! Also looks like you can see into the future ;)
-
That's awesome! It's our pleasure and thank you for the support and feedback!

Ya, Bauer has the most space in the toe box in general and their latest models seem to be getting bigger... not that we're complaining :)

Hey Damack, Great to hear you're feeling the benefits of the POWERFOOT. Just to touch on your concern regarding the “stink” factor and not being able to remove them etc. If you make sure you pull the tongue back to ensure that air can flow to the toe they will dry out nicely. You should also be changing them every 100 session or every year, this will ensure they don’t lose their density and will also control potential “stink” issues. I also recently had a Major Junior player get a new Pair and he pulled out his old ones to show me they were still in from last year… I held it to check out how well it had held up and there was no noticeable smell. That being said, I was in a hockey dressing room after practice, so… There is also the option of not sticking them in [a little late for this pair but maybe an option for the next]. A lot of our pro and high level players will do this as the have a lot of 2-a-days and wouldn’t be able to dry them in between sessions. I personally do this as well so I can take them out when a new player is interested in seeing the POWERFOOT. The downside will be that they won’t be exactly in the same place each time and there is a process to get them in there not to mention you have to remember them and that’s always a challenge for any piece of equipment J The POWERFOOT will work whether it’s stuck or not and we leave the option up to you.

Nice!,let us know how it goes! Welcome to a whole new level of support and comfort :) Man, Australia's hockey movement is on the rise, nice to see! It's up to you!! We've had players take them out in tryouts for the first time lol, I would say get them in your skates [without sticking them] at home [off ice] and see what you think. If you like the feel, go for it. Let us know how it goes! Welcome to Team POWERFOOT! I also want to say that the support from this Forum is phenomenal, thanks a lot boys!

Hey Guys, Ya Rob and I dicussed this today and he would lean towards the JR's. He's the founder / inventer so you'll be good. Good thing he handles the order details ;) Sorry for the confusion boys. Let us know how it goes.
-
Nice, welcome to team POWERFOOT! I'm interested to hear your feedback and to see if it relieves the pain you're describing.

Hey Mojo, makes sense to me. However, if sized correctly, players will always feel the difference as it's a foam insert/support in an area of the skate that's never had anything there. Whether they like the difference or not that’s a different story, nothing works for everyone. We've had players that prefer the space, others already wear their skates really small so they already achieve the goal of keep the toes in check [by crunching them in the front of the toe box]. Others take a few skates to get used to it while others opt out. I mention in my signature that it took me 2 months to try it... I'm not exaggerating. In fact, I really thought it was a dumb idea the first time I heard about it. I had never in my 28+ years of playing the game paid attention to my toes except when they froze playing outdoors. Then I tried them… I agree we’ve had a small sample size to date but the results have been extremely positive and for the benefits mentioned in the posts above, worth a shot or a skate ;)

That's awesome, great feedback! let me know if I can post that to our social media feeds.
