I'm in the 2S right now and actually like it better than the 2S Pro when I tried them both on. I don't like the new lacing system on the 2S Pro and the 2S is just right in terms of stiffness for me (they're practically the same, but the 2S might be like half a point less stiff - you probably couldn't get me to pass a blind test though). The best part is the fit - these are REALLY snug skates. I went though insane number of pairs and these were the best. I had Bauer bumps before and had to wear sleeves around my ankle/heel, but no longer need them due to the ample cushioning in the heel area.

Anyone have experience with the new STX RX3 shoulder/elbow pads or the Vapor 1X Lite shoulder/elbow pads? I'm supposed to get Christmas gifts so I can sort of hint at what I want. 🙂
My current elbow pads constantly slide down. I've resorted to rolling up my compression shirt's sleeves to keep them up for now. Do you have any other elbows to compare to?
I want whatever is less bulky and lightweight, especially the shoulder pads. Something that can maintain a light weight and can shed all the water weight off. I sweat a lot and my current shoulder pads really weigh down by the third period.
How do the RX3s compare to the 1X Lites in terms of weight? Any opinions on their sweat wicking abilities? Do the sleeved elbow pads of the RX3 get really smelly and annoying?
Welcome to other suggestions too. FYI I'm on the skinny side so the pads will probably have to be more form fitting.

The warm up pants for hockey are meant to be extremely loose on the legs so that you can fit shin guards underneath. I have super thick shins though so I still can't wear shin guards and pants together. I wish I could so I can do it for pond hockey in the winter.

Such a low effort shop. They don't even have free shipping (only to nearby retailer) and custom option pretty much only for stick. Likely much more difficult to deal with when you have issues versus dedicated retailers like HM or IW. Why would anyone buy on their platform? STX is exclusive and have deep savings, but I don't see the point of Bauer's from a consumer standpoint. I imagine this is to setup for the future - maybe Bauer may have some products in the future that are exclusive to their own store.

I feel like the market for hockey sticks left over for niche players is much much smaller than most would imagine. Ice hockey just isn’t popular enough to support new players. The existing big brands already struggle to keep pace. Retailers like discount hockey just went out of business and even big brands like Easton had to leave.
I never want to count out entrepreneurs, but this seems like a pipe dream. I hope he was frugal with his own money when starting.
If it were up to me, I think he would have done better without such a strange feature. Instead of the bent stick, he should have just gotten artists to create the most standout, flashy limited edition graphics on generic mid to high end tier sticks. Slash the prices and sell them direct online. Let people know that the curves and features are pretty much the same as sticks from the industry leaders so customers can buy online with confidence, knowing the performance is the same as their usual stuff.
It’s a much simpler business plan and if the designs are truly great and catch eyeballs, there are enough players who obsess over looks to pick one up for casual pond hockey or pickup games. It’s much easier to market.

Do they really have laws covering a free giveaway? It's not really gambling if, well, we're not actually gambling any of our money. This is the sort of stuff that really annoys businesses. Giveaways are such a great opportunity for marketing.

How did you find the difference in fit? I found the new Supreme skates to be more snug throughout the skate, but especially near the back arches, heel and ankles. The previous generation Supremes fit very similarly to the current Jetspeeds to me (excluding the FT1). Bauer said they thickened up the interior padding, as well as the wrap shape a bit.
I also found the tongue to be too thick. Maybe it's something you'll get used to, but, for me, it felt bulky. I think it's supposed to help push your foot back on each stride, but perhaps it makes every stride/ankle bend a tad more laborious.

I just found out about your thread. This is amazing seeing your progress and your continued enthusiasm over 3 years! You probably already know this, but the YouTube channel iTrainHockey has a great skater whose skating you can practice replicating. Are you playing in a league now or just sticking to drop-in/open hockey?

The 2S Pro is noticeably stiffer than the 2S. The 2S composite is very similar to the S180 from last generation if you squeeze them both, while the 2S Pro Carbon Curv is like the 1S/S190. It is also worth noting that the 2S is not entirely composite. The midsole is actually just nylon. If you remove the insole, you'll see it. 2S Pro is composite throughout.
The 2S is a pretty mediocre deal. The way to think about it is like this:
Out of the $300 difference, $90 of it is a fair value representation of the Speed Plates ($50) and LS5 runners ($110 LS5 vs. $70 LS3). That means the remaining $210 can be attributed to upgrading the Curv stiffness (a reasonable price difference for equivalent jump in stiffness to other models' high-end skates) and getting composite midsole.
All the other stuff can be considered "free" upgrades (vented vs non-vented outsole, adjustable vs non-adj flex tendon guard, new tongue, new eyelets, ankle comfort padding, etc.).
This isn't to say the 2S Pro is a good deal, but just that the 2S is a poor one. They should have at least given the 2S a vented outsole and ankle comfort padding. These are all standard features in other skate models in lower price points.
For me, I really didn't like the eyelets and tongue of the 2S Pro, and didn't need anything from the 2S Pro upgrades enough to warrant paying the difference. If it wasn't for the fact that the new Supremes fit me better than any other line of skates, I would have definitely bought something else.

The fit of the gloves and elbows are great. It's brand new, but already feels pretty good when stick handling. Tons of motion but no worries about protection. The hyper extension thumb protection is the best I have seen. The hex cell wrap is really form fitting and protective. The sleeve in the elbow pads is not loose, but it isn't tight enough it cuts off circulation and provides discomfort. The end of the gloves and the elbows meet up very well.
The palms and the super fabric on the gloves is nice, but there is no getting around how it seems slightly abrasive and I am worried that overtime it could wear away at my stick. Super fabric is used in some motorcycle gear and some people have complained about it scratching their bikes. Also not stoked on all the small STX logos, just kind of makes the gloves seem like the company is trying too hard. All gloves have thumb logos, but I think the RX3 logo would have looked better here. The small STX on the index finger just looks out of place, and the side of the palm is whatever but it would look better without it.
The shins are not bad. The shell provides great coverage and the liner is very comfortable. Strapped up they are very secure. Now I do have humongous baloon calves, but I do wish for longer straps and more wrap. The side wraps are good coverage, but I would prefer more. If you can see in the one picture, the rectangular stitching is the velco hooks. Had to really crank the strap to get the uncomfortable velcro off my leg, and there is still a bit there. I am worried that having the crank some of the straps could over stress them. I almost wish I could have the shell/liner of a 15" but the calf wraps and straps of a 16". STX if you're reading this, I would buy that product right away, perhaps call it a size + (size 15"+ size equals 15"shell/16" calves, etc.).
Really good to know. I, too, have humongous calves. I don't know why. Every other part of my body is cookie cutter standard, but my calves are huge and the calf raise machines were always easy. I wish instead of being naturally gifted with calves, I had huge glutes or hamstrings lol.
Anyway, even my Tacks shin guards have trouble with the big strap wrapping around. I'm still wishing for minimalist shin guards I can wear underneath skating pants for pond hockey.
I'm gonna wait for the shoulder pad review. I'm thinking about those and the elbows. My current elbows always slide down by the end of games and it's so annoying.

I doubt anyone here will experience any noticeable loss in their game from a minor decrease in weight or aerodynamics of the blade. Heck, the difference in weight from that little bit of added material is far less than the weight difference between price points and models.
However, I’m sure just keeping the stick on the ice will lead to some pucks hitting that part of the blade during a season’s worth of game. What would have been a bad deflection or pass reception may turn good. I’m all for it but it’ll make less impact overall than a few days worth of good practice.

I wish STX had the weight of all of their gear on their website. At this point, all I really care about is light, mobile gear for everything but my shin guards since I sometimes have to block shots as a center. Being able to play with even 5% more gas during the 3rd period is worth it if the gear is light and can shed water weight.

It should be around $2500-3000 for Pavel Barber to do a dedicated video review of the new Surgeon stick. Negotiations can bring that up depending on how experienced he is. If should also include cross-channel content (IG stories, posts, etc.) in the package. For a niche channel like Pavel's who generates 40-50k views per video, that would be a competitive rate. The rates of Ninja and Pewdiepie would be on a totally different level.

You give demo products to the bigger retailers like Pure, Monkey, whoever is big in Canada so customers can actually touch the gear.
That’s really not how retail works lol...
Even if STX paid IW a million bucks for a video, it would only confuse IW customers who’ll ask them why they can’t find the reviewer products on their website.
STX can and should get massive video reviews via influencer marketing on YouTube, IG and especially forums like this where there are high converting customers.

Do you have the weight of medium size senior for the shoulder pads?
More specifically, how much lighter are they than the older Surgeons and Stallions and can you talk about how much sweat/water weight they keep off?
The lower end shoulders look much more low profile - how much weight difference is there between those and the RX3, after accounting for typical sweat and water weight?

My concern and hesitation with the sleeve design is that it will smell like crazy after 6 months or so of play. I air out my gear regularly and use one of those portable dryers, so my gear just has a slight odor, but the under layers really reek! Despite the anti-odor claims, they smell so bad that, at this point, laundry only makes them smell good for 1 wear. I can't imagine forcing something like that to be sawn onto my gear. Traditional elbow pads without sleeves seem so much easier to maintain.
