  1. Keith, I never had that model year of Tacks and I don't remember off hand what year they were but if memory serves me correctly that was the year CCM made a change in the tendon guard. If you wrapped the laces around the top of the boot it would or could break the tendon guard, so my understanding was that because of that issue with the boot CCM changed it the next year. If you look closely you will see that it doesn't have a band of leather that goes through the center of the tendon guard, but I believe that Joe's do so his must be the next model year. Some guys didn't have a problem with that skate and I probably wouldn't have a problem because I don't wrap my laces around the top of my boots. I could be wrong but that was what I heard. I still like the looks of that setup, very nice. What size is it? Rick Henry
  2. Custom skates are cool....... I just wish you could buy any brand of boot, Mission, Nike Bauer, CCM, Reebok with nothing mounted, no holes in the sole what so ever. Then just mount what you want on the boot. I really like the looks of the Reebok 8K roller boot, the older model in silver but I don't want the Tri-Di chassis, wheels or bearings that come with the skate. Just the silver 8K boot with my Sprung chassis maybe in black and lime green with black or silver/black Rink Rat wheels. Ah, if only it were a perfect world. Rick Henry
  3. I love Tacks and those are sweet......I have always liked the silver and blue boot and you did a great job matching colors with the Mission chassis. Rick Henry
  4. Thanks, The Sprungs were mounted on those skate boots first and then I took them off and mounted them on Easton Z-Air's for a little while. I like the Eastons but they were brand new and very stiff and for me it was hard to skate in them with the Sprungs so I took them off and mounted them back on the Tacks. Who knows I may change them again. The 552 Super Tacks were my ice hockey skates for a couple of years and then I switched them to the Sherwood E-Frames and the 655 Super Tacks are almost in new condition. I bought the 4.5 Edge skates for $49.00 dollars at Hockey World and put the Red Star chassis on them because at the time I thought I was going to be playing a lot of blacktop hockey and I thought that the Edge boot looked like it could take the punishment. Rick Henry
  5. These aren't anything too fancy or special but I like them. Custom CCM 655, 552 and 652 Tacks and CCM 4.5 Edge skates. Rick Henry
  6. The first pic is my CCM 652 Super Tacks that I converted to inline with Sprung chassis. The other pair is the old style 655 Super Tacks boot with a Sherwood E-frame. The 655 was the boot version CCM made for roller hockey in the early 90's. It was basically the same boot as the 652 ice boot but the 655 had a black felt tongue. The other pic is a pair of old style 552 Super Tacks I converted to inline and the other pair is a pair of the old CCM 4.5 Edge skates I bought at Hockey World for $50 and converted to inline. Rick Henry
  7. Not ice but still Tacks. Rick Henry More of my Tacks......and CCM Edge 4.5 Rick Henry
  8. Keith, I know you are a busy guy but keep the photos coming when you mount something new please........ Rick Henry
  9. I broke down and took the Sprungs off of my Tacks and mounted them on the virgin Easton Z-Air boots. I decided to leave the T-nuts in place on the Tacks in case I decide to go to them and with Keith's method of mounting its real easy to switch the chassis out. Rick Henry
  10. ALLSMOKENOPANCAKE..... Sorry I didn't ger back with you sooner. Hockey World still has the $49.00 Easton boot. They told me they had like 250 pairs in size 10 alone plus a bunch in the other sizes. Go to Hockey World and click on ice hockey skates and they come up on page 2. Rick Henry
  11. Nils, Don't know if you were asking me about the E-Frame or not but I got a Red Star E-Frame a couple of years ago when Hockey World had them. I also lucked out and got a couple of the Sherwood E-Frames from Hockey Gaint when they cleared them out for $5.00 a while back. The frame on the Easton's is a Labeda I have had for several years. Rick Henry
  12. Here are some new skates I'm working on. I am a CCM Tacks guy but I couldn't resist the $49.00 dollar Easton Z-Air boots from Hockey World. I have my Sprungs on Tacks and they are working out well so I didn't want to change that package so I was going to go with a Sherwood E-Frame but the outsole is very hard and the shape of the E-Frame mounting plates just didn't fit the shape of the sole. Then I pulled out my Labeda frames and the fit is almost perfect. I'm not crazy about the copper/gold color of the frames with the black and yellow trimmed boot but it might grow on me. Also the boot isn't mounted on the chassis yet so the way I have it setting for the picture it looks a little far forward. Rick Henry
  13. Nice Vapor's......... I am 41 years old and currently have 5 pairs of roller hockey skates and 2 pairs of ice hockey skates but I have to fight off the urge on a dailey basis to buy another pair of skates to convert. I love these custom roller hockey setups. Rick Henry
  14. As my 7 year old would say, "Those Bauer's look pretty sweet". I really hope that Mission's new aftermarket chassis will come in that color of red because that is one of the best looking chassis of all times. Rick Henry
  15. Thought I would post a pic of my sons skates with the TUUK rocker chassis. He likes the chassis but I took the Hyper wheels and we put blue colored Rink Rat (333's I think) outdoor wheels on his skates. Rick Henry
  16. Those white Reeboks rank right up their with some of the coolest looking skates I have ever seen. Nice combination. Rick Henry
  17. Thanks, I just love the older style Tacks. Lots of guys don't like them but I hated to hear CCM had discontinued the line. They are the only skates I have found that don't kill my feet. Rick Henry wickedlite44, It was this chassis. I got it in the 90's when the Hi/Lo set-up first came out. Its called the Labeda PRO/MVP. Mission had one that was exactly the same but was red and it had Mission and Labeda graphics both down the side. I believe that they were the very first hi/lo chassis on the market but Justin from Mission would probably know for certain. I like it and it is built very well but I had it mounted for years on Bauer H-9 skates and they hurt my feet. When I got these Tacks with the gold lettering I thought the dark gold colored Labeda chassis would look good on them so I took off the ice blades and mounted the Labeda's up with T-nuts and bolts. As I said I like the chassis but I had gotten used to the Red Star E-Frames and they set lower to the surface than the Labeda's so I really didn't give them much of a try on the Tacks before I switched to the Sprung's. Sorry, I misunderstood the question. I have only skated one time on the Sprungs so I really can't say for sure but I think the Sprungs are going to be the best but time will tell. Rick Henry
  18. My CCM 652's converted from a Labeda chassis to Sprungs with BSB Abec 7 bearings and Hyper outdoor wheels. Rick Henry
  19. CCM 652 Super Tacks with 90's Labeda PRO/MVP HI/LO frame. These have been converted to Sprungs. Rick Henry
  20. Ok guys, I think I may have this now. My CCM 655 Super Tacks with Sherwood E-Frames, Hyper outdoor hockey wheels and BSB Abec 7 bearings. I hope to get some pics of my other skates posted soon with the Sprung frames. Rick Henry
  21. Man I love those One90's. I have always been a big fan of the Red Star E-Frame and it looks really cool on those boots. Rick Henry
  22. This is kind of a test to see if I could upload a pic....My CCM Tacks with Sherwood E-Frame chassis. Sorry guys that didn't work. I think I will give up on posting pics.....
  23. This may sound stupid but how can you use a Hummer chassis with the 80,80,76,72 setup and have all four wheels on the playing surface? Or do the wheels eventually wear down to the point where the chassis/wheels ride flat? Rick Henry
  24. I'm going to try picture tiger or photo bucket to post some pics sometime later this week but these are my favorites to date..... CCM 655 Super RH Tacks with a Sherwood E-Frame (switched from Sure-Grip) CCM 552 Super Tacks with a Sherwood E-Frame (converted from ice) Both frames mounted with T-nuts and bolts like Sprungster mounts the Sprung chassis after filling existing holes with two part epoxy. I like this technique. Its fairly simple, looks clean and you save some money. Rick Henry
