2005 Mission Catalogue Review

5'ish lie? Seemed like it. We didn't spend much time on the sticks and the lie looked 5-ish when I grabbed the Hex. -

I saw the line today and liked most of it. The Ribeiro is a heel as far as I can tell. It looks just about perfect to me. -
I backlace mine and never have problems. I've shown some people how to do it and they usually complain that the skates are too tight the first time. they aren't used to having the laces stay tight.
-
I may stock up on the closeout 690s, they've been popular here.

Somehow I had a feeling you would be able to swap out the subshell. I'm surprised that it is a custom option instead of a value-add or an in-store upsell item.

Justin, if you happen to have an L2 blade in the office, bill the shop and send it to me. I'd be happy to put the matter to rest. B) -
At some point in the spring, I doubt before late March.

If the skate fits properly, you shouldn't need it.

It's better than having a product inserted by the manufacturer if you know what I mean.

50-75 is a huge jump in flex, going to 65 in the intermediate makes more sense. -

Justin How dare you make a curve that I like and put a name like Ribeiro on it? Tell me it's a 5 or lower lie, please. -

I believe Justin verified this when the glove pics were first shown. -
TPS R2 Fit- Small glove, somewhat tight fitting. I like the tapered fingers, I think it's one of the best features of the HGT and R2 glove line. The gloves were slightly smaller than optimal for me but the gloves were good in so many other areas I decided to use them anyway. The close fit makes them feel like an extension of my hand. Little or no "slop" when stickhandling, passing or shooting. 9/10 Protection- Dual density foam and no inserts makes it a functional glove, yet not up to full pro-spec protection levels. It's probably plenty of protection for the average hockey player, unless you often get two handed baseball-type swings at your hands. 8/10 Weight- I have no idea what the scale says but they feel very light on my hands. No complaints at all as they're one of the lightest gloves I've ever used. 9/10 Durability- I bought the gloves several months ago and I've used them constantly since then. No rips or tears and the seams have held up quite well. The palms are finally getting crusty, something all nash palms do to me. I may simply have them repalmed and keep them as spares, they are in fantastic condition. 9/10 Intangibles- I hate nash palms, yet I've used these gloves for the last 6+ months. That should tell you something about the gloves right there. 9/10 Conclusion- Even with one major strike against them (nash palm) this is easily my favorite pair of gloves ever. Considering I've been through more than 20 pair in the last 2 years, that's saying something. 8.8/10 average score

I know we've had this type of post before but I wanted to get an idea of what we all use and what we like or dislike about it. Here's my list. Helmet: Itech HC85 pro - Light, well ventilated. Visor: Oakley straight small - Never gets in the way, never fogs. Shoulder pads: Graf 703 - Not really happy, looking to get smaller pads. Read my review. Elbow pads: Jofa 8025 - Light small, no bicep cuff. Gloves: TPS R2 - fits my hand perfectly, love the feel. Pants: Mission M1 - Very protective, double belts and a lace up front. Shin pads: CCM 852 - Lightweight comfy but not durable and falling apart. Skates: Mission S500 very comfy, no break in time. Stick: TPS Response R flex - perfect flex no torque, blades are a bit weak.
