Dave's up in Fridley is the only location I know of. They only have the 90/75 and 100/75 spinners. Hockeygiant will be set up within the month... but their sharpening people aren't as good as Dave's. I've been bugging Dave's to get the 100/50..."Blackstone is out of them" was the reply...Damn!

But they are available on the bigger Blackstone machines, correct?? Asked my LHS today and the guy said they weren't released yet, but I'm thinking they just haven't ordered it...

goodguy, I just purchased the X02 to replace my old sharpener at home after trying the FBV. I can tell you the X02 is a fantastic machine that yielded excellent results quickly and easily for me. My experience so far has been that everyone who tries it, loves it. Then they start talking about it and more people want to try it out. The FBV has doubled the amount of skates I used to sharpen in only a few weeks since I got it. So if you do a good job and want to sharpen more skates, there will probably be people wanting you to do theirs. The 100/75 has more bite than the 90/75 (IMO alot more). I've been starting everyone on the 90/75, most of them coming from 1/2" ROH and they all seem happy with the bite. I myself started on the 100/75 and switched to the 90/75 which I like better right now. I'd like to try the 100/50 (which is inbetween the two) when it's available in the mini-spinner. Hope this helps. My 2 cents on a semi-related note...was on 9/16 ROH before the FBV, first FBV was 100/75. More bite than I was used to, but LHS didn't have 90/75 yet. IMO glide was on par with 9/16. LHS got the 90/75 so I went with that this week. Glide was as advertised...was very pleased, but the bite on cornering was not quite where I need it to be (straightaway skating no problems, bite was fine). So I believe according to my research that 100/50 would be the ticket. Before I call my LHS and inquire if they have it, is this guy even available yet (they have the big industrial version of the Blackstone, not the X02)??

nice one im from Nottingham, where you order them from? I looked at black lightspeeds before but could find any in the UK. You know somewhere? I did them myself..you'll have to also (or find someone to do it for you) since they don't make lightspeeds in black. Search the forums using "colored holders" or "RIT dye". It's not a hard process to dye them. Custom + is also an option, they come in black.

You mean like these?! http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/4841/g7sms2.jpg

What I was implying was not the use of the "medium" forward pitch, 8/13 compound radius(that would be what you are claiming I implied). I was implying a common use of a compound radius with a forward pitch, in general. TBL, I think your point is well-taken. The fact is that people are always looking for anything that will improve their skating ability. This is evidenced by the huge interest in FBV. Similarly, a combo radius alleges to provide some sort of advantage over a standard factory radius. Thus, people are willing to make a change for the sake of change. As someone stated above, I'm sure Bob's experience has allowed him to formulate an idea as to what combination will generally work for people based on height, weight, experience, etc. Whether it works in a small or large percentage of cases is anyone's guess. I would be a lot more skeptical if Bob wasn't willing to redo your radius free of charge if the initial one doesn't work out. In my case, the radius Bob gave me improved my skating ability. That is certainly not to say it is the ideal setup for me. In fact, I'm sure that it's not. However, given my lack of options as far as LHS's go, I feel that it's the best option I have at this point in time. OTG, if someone walks into your shop and says, "I currently use a 1/2" ROH, I want whichever FBV hollow is most similar." What do you tell them? Just for a trust factor i would say 100/75 as they would have more issue not being able to stop than having a little to much bite. Either way if they dont like it come back and no charge! So I would imagine then that you would recommend 90/75 if I asked for a 9/16 equivalent?

EWH carries them. Called them a few weeks back..."We don't stock them because nobody asks for them".

I'd like to but probably not since I'm not a big fan of drilling new and/or enlarging rivet holes. On top of that I don't have enough confidence in my LHS doing the job. I suppose I could paint them but I'm not sure I'd be happy with the results. Maybe I'll have to be the guniea pig for the LS2P's and try dyeing them??? I asked in the dyeing thread if anyone has done LS2P's and so no response. Or I could just live with it. I've dyed em...doesn't turn out as well as LS2...the color won't seep in very well. Tried to go red, turned out orange/pinkish

Thanks! Went back and forth on whether to go white or black...decided on the black in the end.

For those that prefer Tuuks...

Heh - that's ridiculous depth in a --7 series skate, cbart. Nice order. :) How about materials? It's obviously a G7 build with white leather and a 707 tongue, but what else went into the boot? Law, I was waiting for you to chime in..! Obviously custom measurements for my screwed up feet (high arches). Extra wide toecap, the tongue is from the swiss version of the Ultra G7, they were supposed to do a clarino lining but screwed that up and did the stock Ultra Series liner (not a big deal though, it's pretty comfy). Stock Ultra series upper and outsole..

5 months? Did Graf have something similar to the 'Easton Toy Drive'? No, they are just painfully slow...
-
Grafs Finally got my custom G7's in..(took 5 months)

Damn, I should have kept them and got them re-palmed, haha. They did a nice job. Can't tell if you are serious or not, but I got them from Saba. I'm not sure they do single layer. You might have to wait for them to custom order them from Eagle...TBLfan has single layer because he ordered custom mitts. My overlay was not stitched by Fixitbymail, but came already stitched on the palm from Eagle. You can always remove the extra layer yourself. Did that to my old Eagles that had a nash overlay.

RIT dye....?

FYI...Called Easton...they were no help answering this question. Girl had no clue. Talked to a reputable LHS here in MN..."No junior or intermediate Synergy Elite will be offered"
-
Love the avatar..Mark it zero
-
I didn't notice it on the blade page, but I'm ASSuming the Synergy Elite will be available in Intermediate?

Done over 20 pair...Never had a problem. Not arguing with anyone, not offering anything...just sharing pics. I wouldn't call it "hot" water, I'd say lukewarm...

Skates Here you go!

I've tried it with mixed results...You have to really heat the water up and soak them for a long time (1/2 hour +) to really get any color to stick. I tried going red on a pair and the best I could get was a light orangeish/pinkish color. Just for shits and giggles I ordered a pair of "colored" LS2 powers off of Total Hockey in red and they sent me a pair that looked EXACTLY like the color I had done...Sent them back...On a side note, what got me doing my own was the ridiculous cost they charge on their website ($90) for something that costs less than $5 to do at home (yes I know they include the cost of the holders in that price..no steel though).
-
Nothing to drastic...mostly all "golden yellow" with a couple of black mixed in...I'll post my kid's tonight, they turned out well.
-
Love it, love it, love it! :) I'm going to have to try this RIT-dye thing some day. I'm still paranoid about it coming off on the underside of my pads, but I'd love to do that LAX-head fade-dye by dipping the cowlings in the dye, in-and-out for a few hours. For now, I continue to look desperately for 8090s in my size... :( LG, It's sort of become a hobby of mine. Did the kid's team as well. It will chip off a bit, but I get some auto touch up brush on stuff and it looks fine. RitDye is cheap also..under $5

Those are sweet looking skates. I like the all black touch. If those skates had any stiffness to them I would have bought them myself. I tried those on and they're plenty stiff. I wore Graf 707s for 6-7 years and now have Bauer 8090s and Nike Flexlites...Go figure...I guess I like the toecap room since I have some jacked up feet. as you can see from my user picture i tried dying mine black but they turned out maroon. how much rit did you use and how long did you do it for 1 bottle.... heat the water to a simmer dump the dye in, dump the holders in. The longer you keep the holders in, the deeper the color will be. 15 minutes should be plenty. Just did a pair of golden yellow tonight and I left them in too long and they ended up too dark!!
