As promised here's a pic of the finished product. Even with a holder swap and a fresh set of Superfeet I only have about $100 into these.
-
Still owe a better pic of the one100's I picked up a little while back post holder swap but I took this last night. My one90's are now the back up's with the 7000's and Comps relegated to curio status. All but the one90’s were picked up at local PIAS in nearly new condition over the last 5 years.
-
Will do. Should have them baked and holders swapped out by the end of this month. That leaves a couple months to break them in before beer league starts back up. I'm only playing roller this summer.
-
When I saw them I noticed the tag had "10.5" hand written on it. I thought to myself "ah some rich guy bought his first pair of hockey skates in his shoe size without being fitted". My next thought was "oh well I'll find them a home on modsquad." Then I looked at the tag on the skate and they're 9's....just like my one90's that happen to be on their last leg. Great success. For the most part I like to blend in so it's white holders for me. To each his own though eh.

Hey gang...it's been a while. Had to show off this find. Found these during my rounds of the local PIAS. They were sold as used although they are clearly new, even unsharpened. Just happen to me my size. Since the hockey knowledge base isn't real deep here in Cincinnati they were marked $49.99. I traded in a couple helmets I don't use and left with them for less than $27. I have a bunch of white LS2's laying around so I'll be swapping the black ones out.

Finally got around to sending my PS Easton 4-rolls to Mark at Peaches Pro Repair.

I have a 6" bench grinder that I bought a regular old buffing wheel for. Got both at my local home improvement store for like $50 total. I just use a fine buffing compound and the shine comes back pretty quickly. Polishing 101
-
To keep my Velocity's shining I remove them and buff them on my bench grinder prior to each sharpening. Doesn't take too long, maybe 5-7 minutes per skate. Next, I'm lucky enough to be able to sharpen my own skates at home. I finish the edge with the miracle stone being careful to hone as little of the steel as needed. They end up looking almost new after the reinstall. The MS will scratch it a little but it's not really noticeable from arms length and it buffs out next time I sharpen. I know it sounds like a lot of work but SS holds an edge so well I go about 15-20 skates between sharpenings. Skating 3-4 times a week I only have to do it once a month or so.

I would have jumped on those too man; nice pick up. I have a couple pair of vintage Supremes that I don't really wear but I found them in mint condition at a local PIAS. I've worn Supremes since I was a kid in the 80's. Now I have a mini (wearable) Supreme museum.
-
*Pic of vintage 5000's* Not long ago I found a pair of vintage Supreme Comps at PIAS also in mint condition. Just a heads up, one of the Tuuk's blew up the first game I used them in. Not sure if it was a fluke or if it had something to do with the plastic breaking down over the years.
-
I bet those visors would be money for outdoor in-line hockey.
-
Sharpie then I rubbed canning wax on top. Nope, standard. Good catch, my bad.
-
I also finally got some normal holders on my one90's. Also picked up some PPF+'s. The sticks are all shaft/blades except the U+. All Kovalev. The PolarFibre Dolo shaft is my buddy's, the rest are mine. OG Stealth was carefully converted to a tapered shaft and still serves me well. The Kronik is a PS Dolo shaft with Kronik paint job (Draper).

I've had some good luck at the local PIAS store lately so I thought I'd show it off... The one90's are my game skates although the 7000's fit and feel almost as comfy. The Comps fit OK but I couldn't pass them up as I wanted a pair bad when I was in high school. The C+ broke on the Comps first time I wore them in a game so I picked up the LS2P's cheap.
-
Also I know Bob at noicingsports.com stocks Step but not sure about the Velocity version.

Yep, Sports +. Haven't played on the same team for consecutive seasons since I moved here. I think it's division 3 Upper. For some reason there's two division 3's I think. The one we play in is the more competitive of the two.

Playing Beer League with the local fire fighters this season.
-
Picked these up at a local PIAS today for $25. Reminds me of my senior year of high school.
-
white for sure...nice skates man
-
I rocked a pair with black Tuuk's my last two years of high school. Good skates, good times.
-
I'd like to but probably not since I'm not a big fan of drilling new and/or enlarging rivet holes. On top of that I don't have enough confidence in my LHS doing the job. I suppose I could paint them but I'm not sure I'd be happy with the results. Maybe I'll have to be the guniea pig for the LS2P's and try dyeing them??? I asked in the dyeing thread if anyone has done LS2P's and so far no response. Or I could just live with it. edit: grammar

I VERY carefully used an exacto knife to cut along the edge of the trim, then pulled the stitches from the one90 logo. You have to be super careful not to cut through the blue logo and into the quarter. They came off easy as there is no glue underneath. I also rubbed the Tuuk logo off with a cotton laminate "stone" I use to remove burs after sharpening. I took the Nike/Bauer logo off the inside of the left skate by removing the stitching but it was glued so I left the rest of them alone. You can barely see the glue on the quarter in the pic.

My de-Fedoroved* one90's...still need to do something about those holders. *the process of taking flashy looking gear and making it look as classic as possible.
