  1. I was part of the roller scene in South Florida in 1994-95, and played down there til about 2001. I'm not surprised. The only reason why roller was big was because there wasn't much ice. Once ice rinks started sprouting up, there was no reason to play roller.
  2. Used to play roller down there when it was strictly roller.
  3. We’ll have to most likely move this discussion soon, but when it rolls out, a custom skate fitter can contact them to reference the 3D scan done in the store for the fit but will still have to fill out the normal spec sheet for now.
  4. IMO, yes. This will provide them with a much more solid base to start the process, which with average fitters, is where they fail.
  5. Bauer's. What it accomplishes in a retail setting is pretty crazy, and has the capability to do more with the results. Sorry, I should've isolated that quote.
  6. Retailers aren't paying that full amount; and to be honest, is more powerful than anything else out there.
  7. Absolutely. We have some non-manual options in some of our stores, so once again, this is just me attempting to localize the situation (my store is strictly manual, at this point.)
  8. Stores are moving to automated options to supplement manual sharpening/profiling. I realize that we at MSH tend to be more savvy than your average hockey player, but the vast majority of skates don't care about the inner nuances/achievable benefits of sharpening. If I were to run a poll today in my store (without my service queue, that has our rewards members' profile saved), I'm willing to bet that 85% of customers won't know their hollow (or say "standard".) In some cases they've never been asked, or told what they get. All they care about is a sharp and square sharpening. However, if a store has been giving them consistent results, I wonder what their reaction would be if I were to go and say, "I'm going to put your skates on the XXX while I straighten out soakers."
  9. I'm sure the one-piece is probably heavier.
  10. Foxings are usually decorative and accomplishes two things - protect the edge of the boot and also clean up the look.
  11. Thanks. I'm not sure if the 2nd sentence is an indication that I'm close-minded about it - actually, I'm not. I've always wanted to see everything that's out there. I just haven't seen it.
  12. Steve - Please don't insult the techs who have busted their asses to hone their skillset over time yet have the stamina to do it on a consistent basis. While over the past year, it's been established that is a place for your machine in this industry - from what I've heard from people, it does a good job - I suspect you wouldn't toss this quote up if you were still working on the other side.
  13. SCS :) Once we do the housewarming cookout I’ll let you know.
  14. US launch is now August 12.
  15. I bought my first house. It had gotten to the point that it was time to quit waiting for be moved job-wise and to set down roots somewhere. That being said, what a shitty process it is.
  16. My grandmother passed away a couple of days ago. Dementia set in relatively quickly. Last time I saw her (almost 2 years ago) she seemed to be normal. A week later is when it all started. I've only have had to deal with death once in my family, so it's still somewhat a new experience for me. I am flying out to Miami on Wednesday for her service.
  17. We don't allow 16 year olds in the booth.
  18. Virginia Tech buys the helmets when they are available and then tests them. So, I would imagine that would be ongoing now. The helmet technically has been out for a week.
  19. It would be best to direct any VT testing protocol posts to the thread that's already open:
