  1. I am about to conduct that experiment. I have a high-level figure skater here in Orlando - I have to talk to her about it. I believe she will be interested.
  2. Loved that glove. Still have a pair of M1 Pro nylon (custom order we did through CoreBeam)
  3. Nah, Arnott curve in a Hull shaft They look crooked to my untrained eye. Expert opinions? The holders the same size? Yeah, both are 272. This is one of those instances where the lack of a LHS really becomes a burden; guess I'll be sending them off for a re-mount. Given my lackluster skating skills, I don't think they will adversely affect my performance on the ice :P Doesn't surprise me - the beveled outsole left very little room for error. Once they switched to the flat outsole with Vapor XXX, those problems pretty much went away.
  4. I run into a lot of my customers as well...wether it's at West Edmonton Mall or at Rexall Place, I do see a lot a familiar faces. Most don't recognize me though, as I always wear a hat away from the store. Hehe Well I stick out like a sore thumb at hockey games anyway so it doesn't take much.
  5. That is a very rewarding feeling... I've run into so many customers at Lightning/Red Wings games, they'd be like "You're the dude from the pro shop! You sold me a pair of skates and they are the best I've ever had."
  6. Check that skate mount...
  7. But what makes the company decide which name goes on which pattern? Do they put it on the pattern that's cheapest to make or how does it work? I doubt it all isn't about money, I can't see CCM giving the straighest curve they have and naming it Ovechkin... It must have a correlation to the player that "uses" it. Nope
  8. You haven't been in one of their stores. LOL Regardless, if I were working at a store, and my location didn't have it but I knew that the sale was happening at our other location, you do it. All he has to do is explain the situation. That's if he's even helped at all.
  9. Wow, I hate to say it, especially considering who it is, but I'm beginning to agree with TBLfan...but I'd have to see some other jobs first.
  10. Just tell him upfront. It's essentially self-service in those stores anyway.
  11. David does not have an endorsement deal with anyone.
  12. Let's not look at the fact that the SW 5030 Coffey is the best-selling stick of ALL-TIME.
  13. But you won't get them that way, so why bother? Why not? That's what I did with mine and I didn't have a problem.... You got lucky. Seriously, I posted that after mine. Retail customers can only have the options available in the customizer. THis is true - I unfortunately started that trend.
  14. The same as the other ones. The word you're looking for is depth, not sharpness.
  15. But you won't get them that way, so why bother?
  16. I had the hockey director at my local rink "not like it." Why? He laced up in his office, which is basically office carpet (concrete) under it, then walked through said office, onto the rubber mat, to the rink. You know something happened there. Haha whatcha talking about, we have sand all year long! You know, because we all go to the beach daily...
  17. Andoy - your theory is flawed - A premium OPS can made the same way as a lower-price point OPS. Should they be the same price? No. The manufacturer invests more into that product. When a Spinner disc costs 4 times the cost of a standard quill diamond tip, shouldn't the store charge more to recoup their costs? And once again, buying a new machine? Sharpening machines take a long time to turn a profit.
  18. as far as I know the price hasn't been finalized, and even the service hasn't been made officially available to all customers $10 is way too much, and last I heard they were thinking the same way, especially considering that FBV doesn't last as long as conventional sharpening Obviously it won't last as long as a regular sharpening, when has stuff geared more towards performance ever lasted a long time? I am beginning to find this NOT to be the case. I went 4 games on one sharpening - I usually go one. I stretched it out as far as I could. One of my former employees (hobbes_86) called me last night and told me that she's been on the one I did for her last month, 10+ on-ice hours TBLFan, larrivee, wristshot19 in Tampa - first skates I've done on the X02 - two of them still on original sharpening and that was in January. I've got a 15 year old (one of the best players in the state) who I did his 2 weeks ago, and I will do them any time he tells me to. He hasn't told me he's needing a sharpening. I also have an interesting case - very good adult-league player who works at the rink and doesn't have to pay for sharpening. Skates 5 times a week, sharpens 5 times a week. Will he keep his sharpening frequency now that he doesn't get it for free? Not to mention that all this week I spoke to other stores who offer FBV to find out what they have been hearing... I'm willing to put it out there that it lasts just as long as a regular sharpening. Your mileage will vary based on personal preference and maintenance, just like any other sharpening.
  19. THey are shipped to the dealer who placed the order.
